Weekend retreat

Cons: Restaurant service and overall appearance
Location: Location and activities on offer nearby are great. Glastonbury and Wells beautiful.
Hotel has a lot of potential but the peace and tranquillity expected is somewhat broken by the noise of the M5. The configuration of the hotel is strange requiring you to walk from the pool area across the tiled reception area for the leisure suite an then through the gym to reach the steam room and sauna (steam room out of action and believe it has been for some time) . Hotel is dated with electrical issues being experienced in both our room and that of friends, which is a little disconcerting. Hotel staff generally helpful and friendly although requires a little organisation - if you don't have the a la carte menu napkins and water and glasses are cleared from your table??! The surrounding countryside and opportunities to go out and about do make the location ideal.

Comfortable hotel with lovely views

Pros: Public areas very comfortable, good sized bed, nice swimming pool.
Cons: Decor needs refreshing and some areas need a deep clean.
Location: It’s off the M5 with stunning countryside all around. There are probably loads of things to do nearby but we didn’t do any of them
Nice olde worked country hotel with good facilities and stunning views. Rooms are a good size with nice furniture and very large comfortable beds. The decor is a little dated and needs refreshing, there is no lift so lots of stairs. The hotel is in an old building so the layout is somewhat quirky but the bar and restaurant are really nice and very comfortable, great views and luxurious leather sofas. The pool is ok but again the layout is a bit odd; the changing rooms are separate from the pool and the pool is separate from the sauna (tbh I never did find it!) Bar food was good and service was excellent. Free WiFi throughout and generally very good facilities. Cleaning was slightly below par with some areas of the bathroom needing attention. Breakfast was good although the waitress looked really shocked when I explained that we were on a room only tariff and hadn’t booked! She recovered though and was very helpful. Good value and a very pleasant hotel with friendly helpful staff. It is slightly off the beaten track but that only adds to its charm!

Character hotel

Pros: Very good value
Cons: Keep up the maintenance/redecoration programme

Nice character hotel. It is a little shabby in places, but it is a big hotel, and probably like the Forth Bridge, an ongoing programme Great facilities, including spa. Fabulous views

Lovely wedding venue hotel

Pros: We all had descent sized rooms which were very comfortable. The room was dressed beautifully for the wedding ceremony and the wedding breakfast!
Cons: The net curtains looked tatty in some bedrooms spoiling the view from the room.
Location: The hotel is located just off Junction 21 of the M5, however, it's easier to get to from Junction 22! Cheddar is nearby to explore.
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for a family wedding. The staff were very obliging and we were looked after really well. Upon arrival to our room we found out that the main light in the room wasn't working. This was fixed really quickly by the hotel. We unfortunately, didn't get the chance to use the spa facilities but went to have a look.
