The Great Flood

Location: Bath, Radstock - museums
We stayed at the Redan Inn for 4 nights last week. We needed an overnight escape from family business nearby. It is promoted as a `Pub/Restaurant’ but is very much more a restaurant with rooms than it is a Pub. With the exception of one evening meal we thought that the food was excellent with some personally developed dishes presented with flare and care. The service and accommodation however left a lot to be desired. Plus Side + Menu + Food preparation and presentation + Well stocked bar (Specialty Gins) + Atmosphere & Décor (modern rustic) Minus Side - Restaurant Service Patchy - ZERO storage in bedroom; not a single cupboard or drawer - No tissues in room - Catastrophically leaking shower which remained unrepaired and flooded the bathroom every day When we checked out there was no,”How did you enjoy your stay?” and no offer of a discomfort discount. We felt that they were trying a bit too hard to aspire to their Alistair Sawday image and not quite making it.

All in all FAB. Staff, accommodation and food.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Nothing much nearby but this did not matter for us. Pub was in a quiet, secluded spot which was very nice.
What a wonderful weekend break. Just what the Doctor ordered. Pub set in lovely surroundings. Buses into Bath stopped right on the Pub doorstep. Staff were very welcoming and hospitality was just perfect. Nothing was too much bother. Room and en-suite were lovely. Very spacious and clean. Even though the rooms are above the Pub we could not hear a thing. Am going back next year when the Bath Christmas market is on. Have already recommended to several friends.

Das Essen war super ! Sonnst ist das Hotel völlig überbewertet. Wir waren jetzt die 8. Nacht unterwegs in Devon und Cornwall habe alle Hotels über E-Bookers gebucht bis jetzt nie entäuscht worden aber dieses war das schlechteste. Duvets müssten dringend ersetzt werden da schmutzig Bad müsste saniert werden und das ganze Zimmer von Spinnweben besser gereinigt werden. Schade wir waren zwei Nächte dort und hatten zwei Zimmer Strassenseitig. Einzig die Küche war super Morgenessen und auch das Nachtessen wirklich hervorragend !
