Great stay, toilet roll is king.

Great stay and really enjoyed the food at the hotel. The stay was great, but the rooms could do with a bit of extra paint and the public loo didnt have toilet roll on both days i went to visit. when asking for loo roll, it felt an inconvenience from the staff unfortunately.

The room we were booked into had some maintenance issues and seen better days. Alex the Duty manager was great- showed us an alternative room in the main building and personally took care of moving luggage. Only thing that takes away from 5* was the attitude and service of some of the bar and waiting staff, breakfast seemed a bit all over the place in both getting a table and the service, young staff arguing about what time it finished and bumping into tables - some 6th form common room vibes going on! The library bar was a wonderful room although the shut early with the barman ignoring a number of people (myself included) who had not realised and were waiting to be served. Told bluntly we could stay in the room but would have to get any drinks from the atrium bar- walked there only to be met a service charge on the drinks I was taking back to the library and a ‘it’s policy’ with a shrug from whom I can only guess was the manager as she was not in uniform. Maybe I should have countered that with my own service charge for the legwork. Little things like this detract from the great service others delivered during our stay.

Disappointing stay

The public spaces were fantastic. Unfortunately our room was well below par and not reserve of the price paid. The service at the bar was poor but the food was good. A shame and probably wouldn’t stay again - all felt very corporate and doesn’t mix well with leisure guests.

The reception were very helpful with finding a suitable room for us as my husband has reduced mobility . Amelia was a lovely , waitress . Staff were so pleasant , room in main building spacious with a pretty view. Buffet breakfast was very good and gardens are beautiful . Terrace outside is gorgeous in the sunshine .

Love this hotel!

Absolutely stunning hotel set in beautiful grounds. Service was excellent from all members of staff we met. Artist in residence had the most thought provoking sculptures around the hotel - inside & out. Loved it!

Too many rooms for the facilities

Overall was fine- nice hotel but there was a huge queue for check in, long wait for a table for dinner (couldn’t pre-book in the atrium bar), had to pre book to use the pool facilities which were very basic and still overcrowded, then long queue to even get a table for breakfast. Think they’ve got too many rooms for the facilities they have
