The hotel was tired and looked like it needed investment to bring it back to life…..the range of food offered was not enough and not good enough for the prices paid…we this is a perfect example of under investment in a superb location. We think great food gets noticed and word travels quickly …get the food right and funds will come to improve and upgrade ….an opportunity for someone with the money to invest….great food at a price people are prepared to pay.

Beautiful location, gorgeous looking house. Large bedroom and bathroom with a great view. The barman (blonde hair) sorry didn't catch his name was excellent very friendly, and nothing too much trouble. Food well presented and delicious, lady chef very nice friendly and well travelled. Lovely chatting to her. On the down side house keeping very lacking in fact non existent! Beds were not made on any of the 3 days we were there, no replenished towels, tea replacement etc. On the evening of the second night we did mention this and vouchers for 5 free drinks were given in compensation. However I would have expected house keeping in a hotel of this standard. Free drinks were appreciated. This is why only 4 stars given.

Stayed here for daughter's wedding and we rented 10 lodges between us. Ideal setting as all close together and was great for all the family to be together. Lodges lovely and adequately sleep 6, however some are very dark and some at top of a steep hill. We stayed in number 2 which was lovely, very bright and had a nice bit of garden for kids to run about in, however some further up do not have this facility and are darker as big trees very close by. I would definitely stay again.

It was all ok - clean and spacious. We were lodge 10 which is very dark. In places it looks tired. The door shelf for milk etc in the fridge was broken and we had to ask for basic items like a cloth/sponge and tea towel to be there. The TVs were very basic and WiFi very slow.

It was a beautiful venue and lodge. Albeit very tired the TVs didnt work in the apartment. A fewnof our family rented apartments for a wedding and none of the TVs workednin any apartments. Ine oven didnt work. Lodge 9 the bioler made a loud noise frequently throughout the night. Such a shame as there is the recipe for everything else to be perfect.

A three night stay in Lodge 9 was really brilliant! It was secluded in a lovely woodland area. The lodge was very spacious with very impressive en-suite and bathroom. The swift local bus service at the main gates allowed us to visit Canterbury and Folkestone without the hassle of parking. The facilities for tennis, table tennis, snooker and putting ensured we were kept busy. The only slight disappointment was the pool was quite small and shallow.

Reception staff v helpful. I booked a four poster room as this was all that was available. The building is rambling due to its age but bedroom was comfortable with great views.

Amazing looking, Staff were lovely, Not what I would dirty but with a closer look, not the cleanest. Sat in the breakfast room the wall was stained with coffee and the beautiful windows defo needed a scrub and tidy, Bathroom if room had the odd sign of previous guests. Grandeur of the place A1 and the grounds exceptional, lovely staff.

Great stay.

Beautiful building and decor. Very historic, great breakfast. Very good service and nice staff. The only.minor issues would be that our room didnt have mixer taps on washbasin but i guess thats prt of the heirtage look. The mattress in my room caused me to constantly roll to the middle of bed so obviously worn unevenly so perhaps they need to flip the mattresses around every few month. Swimming pool.was good, just wished it had a sauna even if a small.one as pool was not busy. Overall an excellent stay, extremely good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lodge for one night ,it was clean and a good size for all of us .It was a little dated and the sofa bed was not the most comfortable. The receptionist in the main building was friendly and helpful ,cant fault him at all. Nice area ,nice place to stay for a short break. You need transport to get around as its not in walking distance of anywhere ,hence the peacefulness of the place .

Classy stay!

This was quite the stay! Luxurious building that was classy and beautiful. It looked like a castle on the outside. Inside was spectacular with solid wood molding and gorgeous decor. Our room was huge! The beds were very comfortable and the decor was grand. The views were also spectacular. We didn’t utilize the restaurant but did enjoy a late night drink at the bar. My husband worked out in the gym and enjoyed a brand new rower. The area is remote and the WiFi was spotty but the stay was spectacular.
