Sadly our visit to Derby was due to bereavement but it was made that little bit easier by how well we were looked after at Mackworth Farm House. The lovely resident dogs brought a smile to our faces too.

Lovely B&B in beautiful surroundings

Pros: Location, Friendliness, Hospitality, Comfortable, Cost, Breakfast,
Location: There's a huge park nearby, lots of gorgeous scenery, the centre of Derby is only 10 mins away by bus or car, Pubs/restaurants nearby
We have holidayed in the Derby area for several years now and each time we've enjoyed our stay. But this little B&B in Mackworth is a wee gem! There's some pubs just a few minutes walk away and the bus stop to town is extremely handy (especially for a seasoned shopaholic like myself!) The B&B itself is right on a farm but is so peaceful and there's some gorgeous scenery. Our hosts couldn't have been more generous and helpful. We slept for the first 2 nights in the gorgeous purple room which is huge and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were given bathrobes and little pamper packs and we had fresh milk each day. We had a shared bathroom which was decorated really nicely and the shower was funky! On the next couple of nights we were moved up to the green room which was like our own little apartment, with a seperste bedroom, kitchen/living area and bathroom. There was wine and beer in the fridge, and ice in the freezer, perfect for the hot weather we had! Breakfast was delicious, and there wasn't a set time for it which was great, meaning we didn't feel rushed in the morning. The rooms were equipped with plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits and there were plenty towels and storage for clothes. There's even a salon in the B&B which I didn't use but will definitely book an appointment next time we are down! We hope to return next year!
