All round Gem of a Hotel

Wonderful stay - beautiful building and grounds and very helpful and pleasant staff who make you most welcome. Its wonderful that such a historical building is being saved for future generations to enjoy - local walks are lovely, and interesting to see the original buildings of the estate - ie Forge, Coach house, Farm, Barns etc still in use as delightfully renovated properties. If you play golf its an added bonus - golf course is amazing!!

Loved the room apart from not being able to turn off the towel heater in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn't enjoy the food. Menu was very limited. The duck parfait starter was very bland and I doubt if the chef made it. The beef cheek was tasteless. Fruit at breakfast had absolutely no flavour although the Eggs Benedict was very good.

Overall, awesome stay.

Good location in the country with a golf course if you fancy some of that. Staff were amazing and it was a very clean hotel for its age. Nice little bar and the garden was nice too. Breakfast was great and good price too.

Lovely property, great food and fantastic room. However i was planning to work, the Wifi was appualing. I cant stay here again because i cant work with poor Wifi. I appricate its an old property but ive stayied in many hotels that are old and never had an issue. My colleague had the same issue. I reported it 6 months ago when i last stayied but there has been no improvement. If you dont need wifi then stay if you do then its questionable if you could.

Hotel with No leisure facilities yet!

Loved this hotel but very disappointed as no leisure facilities at all as hotels.com advertised when we booked. No spa, gym or swimming pool available til at least 2026 we were told by receiption staff. We booked this hotel specifically for these facilities so we’re very unhappy on arrival. The rooms were large with classy bathrooms and toiletries, staff and restaurant all lovely.
