Overall an enjoyable stay

Arrival was slightly challenging in that they charged us £31 more than the booking platform quoted and even after sending evidence by email, they still didn’t fix it (we had to have another conversation about it at check out in order to get refunded). But all staff were very pleasant, especially in the bar/restaurant area. We were given drinks vouchers to celebrate our 10yr anniversary which was a kind gesture. Bed was very comfortable; shower was brilliant (though I do miss the days when hotels had baths); leisure facilities were clean and functional if a little small and at times, crowded (despite needing to book a slot to use them). Breakfast spread was plentiful, lots of options, but it would be worth someone looking at why there are so many flies in the coffee station area. There was a wedding on the Saturday so very loud music coming out of the function room into the bar area in the evening, but it’s a hotel in summer, what do you expect? Plus our room was situated far away so only an issue while dining/drinking. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Basically, I enjoyed my stay here, and I have been going to this hotel on and off, for about 20 years, when it was a Holiday Inn. This time, the Reception staff, as always, were amazing, very friendly and helpful. However, one of the restaurant staff reprimanded us, for sitting at a table for 4, when we were a party of 2, for breakfast one morning, which I thought a bit rude, when they had previously directed us to one 2 person table next to an infant, playing music and noisy games on a tablet, and another table in direct sunlight

Ban dress pillows from bedding!

Dress pillows should be banned from hotels. Otherwise a lovely stay with very nice and professional staff. Dress pillows don't have washable pillows so having these resting against freshly changed pillows are disgusting. I dont want some elses fart muffler or supportng aid from a positon of the Karma Sutra from a one night stand on my bed. On a positve. The staff are lovely the bed was comfy. The shower is usable for anybody under 6ft. Definitely stay here again.

It was all very well organised with a very good breakfast selection. The only thing at breakfast was, its now so very difficult to reach the cereals etc & then there's the big thick wooden spoons which are awkward to use & not even any where to put your bowls!! So not at all easy & I'm not short or infirm!! It definitely needs a risk assessment & with staff trying it out?

Decent hotel now it’s a Voco brand

Step up from the Holiday Inn it used to be. Voco refurbishment has taken it up a notch or two. Restaurant is good but expensive. Breakfast is great but again expensive if not part of your room package
