Bar closed at 10:45pm “…because that’s our licence” Which I find hard to believe. Staff then sat around drinking wine as we went to bed. The whole place smelled damp like a wet dog. Carpets Ill fitted the rooms, shoddy workmanship in the bathrooms. In general very old and tired inside. However a note pinned to the reception door proclaimed they were full so maybe we missed something but we saw no evidence of this occupancy. We didn’t book breakfast which we are now glad, one point of Abbot ale with dirty pipes ehrn the beer has that sour taste and the head disappears quickly.

Our room 202 had an interconnecting door to room 201. We arrived back to our room at 11pm and prepared for bed..we had just got into bed when we received a phone call from reception saying room 201 we recomplaining how noisey we were!!!!! We did not have the tv on and were only talking...we asked to be moved but were told that was not possible. There then followed an enourous series of bangs and crashes..we called reception to be told room 201 had departed... By now it was well after midnight. I strongly sugestthaþ those rooms are not suitable for non family bookings.

An excellent short break

Pros: Comfortable, great staff and good food.
Cons: A refurbishment of the bedroom, but we believe this is planned for later this year.
Location: Good walking country and many places to visit. We were there for a specific purpose which left little time to explore.
As the other reviews we found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The catering was first class. Would definitely return when next in the area.
