Hotel near Henley on Thames

Pros: Ambience and traditional feel with bar / restaurant areas.
Cons: Nothing
Location: 7 minute drive to Henley on Thames and a 15 minute walk to the river.
One night stay before going to a wedding, eat in the restaurant and had a very good meal although a bit expensive. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, very enjoyable experience.

Nice food poor bathroom

Pros: Cooked breakfast was very good, lots of finishing touches, restraunt very nice
Cons: The bathroom
We had high hopes of this hotel from the very positive reviews. Very first impressions were good as there were a lot of good touches like the welcome tray having a good selection of teas and some bottled water to use.The bedroom was as expected and the beds were nice and comfy. However the bathroom was a big let down. Firstly the toilet seat looked like a very cheap option which came loose and moved every time the toilet was used, very uncomfortable and not what is expected in a hotel at this price. The shower cubicle did not look very inviting as there were black marks on the grouting at the bottom and all round the base looked dirty, one area looked like the wall had been drilled at some stage and the brick dust not cleaned up properly. I would not let my bathroom at home get like this and I do not expect a hotel room to be so poor. We had been at a Premier Inn two weeks ago and the bathroom was far superior there and we only paid £37-00 per night. The cooked breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and one of the best we have had, however on the first day there was no yoghourts on the help yourself table and on both days there was not any croisants or pastries which was disapointing and has been avialable at every other hotel we have stayed at. We will not be going back and could nor recommend it to anyone else due to the state of the bathroom.

Great hospitality in village inn

Pros: The friendliness of the staff, the amazing food, the countryside location and good transport links.
Cons: Slight problem with the flush in the bathroom - maybe get this fixed!
Location: Countryside setting in small village close to Thames Path and railway station with good links to London.
Great welcome from the outset. Hotel full of character. Comfortable room with hospitality tray and bottled water, overlooking a pleasant garden for alfresco drinks/ dining. We chose to eat at the restaurant on two occasions and even with specific dietary requirements, we were certainly not disappointed. I was offered practically all the dishes on the menu with appropriate changes. Food was well presented and tasted as good as it looked. All staff were very pleasant and hospitable, especially Kevin the manager who made everyone feel welcome.

Problem with postcode

Pros: Value for money and food.
Cons: Postcode issue
Location: Unable to comment
The postcode directed us to station road in the middle of Henley, whereas the hotel is situated in station road Shiplake, which is 3 miles outside Henley. After we got there, melas, rooms service and cleanliness were excellent.
