We had a wonderful stay, bedroom was immaculate and comfortable, the spa was very relaxing, the sauna is big and they have a fully equipped gym. The cocktail bar serves delicious cocktails, would highly recommend sitting at the bar to watch the magic happen. Breakfast was delicious too.

The hotel was extremely busy with back-to-back weddings, and most guest rooms appeared to be out of action due to these events, which was already disappointing. room, however, was particularly poor in condition. It was very dated, with an old wall-mounted hairdryer, cobwebs, and several insects including daddy long legs and moths. The carpet was faded and worn, leaving the room feeling tired and neglected. For October, the large room was also uncomfortably cold, and as there was no controllable heating, staff could only provide a small portable heater, which was completely inadequate for a room of that size. The bed and pillows were hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get any rest. Additionally, our room was located very close to the function areas, and both nights we were disturbed by loud noise from wedding guests shouting and music carrying late into the evening. This made it impossible to relax. It is not a hotel and spa where you can stay for the weekend to unwind — we ended up leaving the hotel on both evenings just to find some peace and quiet. We were offered an upgrade to a more modern room for an additional £150, but having already spent nearly £600 on our stay, we did not feel we should have to pay more simply to be comfortable. No alternative ‘superior room’ was offered, only larger rooms at additional cost, which we did not want or need — we just wanted to be comfortable for the stay we had already paid for. The staff were lovely, dealing with two wedding parties on consecutive days. They had to do so much to change the main reception rooms within just a few hours for another purpose, and it was all done so willingly and politely and speedily. A very impressive establishment

We very much enjoyed our stay, the grounds and the view are breathtaking. I liked that we had a four poster bed and that the furnishings around the hotel were old in style. Everything was clean and tidy. We especially enjoyed the spa facilities. The only complaint I have was that our neighbours kept banging their door shut throughout the night, obviously this is not anything the the staff would be able to have changed but very disruptive for our one night stay. Breakfast didn’t seem to run that smoothly. We asked for toast that came out after our other breakfast order had been finished and taken away. However it was a very nice breakfast and the toast was worth waiting for.

Lovely country house hotel set in the Thames valley and overlooking the river Thames from the surrounding hills. Nice walks around the gardens. Excellent food in the restaurant and a great full English breakfast. Room was well presented with large bathroom, shower over bath. We had a room with a separate sitting area which had great views out over the valley and river. Wi-Fi, etc worked well, two TV’s one in each room. Did not use the large pool or Spa.

The grounds are outstanding, however feels a bit like it is set up more for weddings than guests. Rooms are a bit shabby now, bathrooms poor for the cost. Spa facilities are good however again run down and shabby bathrooms and showers etc. Rooms would need a complete refurb. Beautiful gardens so would recommend for a day trip
