Bathroom cold, as radiator did not work. Shower more of a damp spray. Radiator in room could not be controlled, so permanently hot. Breakfast only 8am until 9.30am on a Sunday in a hotel! Obviously for the convenience of the hotel and not for the guests. TV did not work. Really disappointing. Will not stay again. Staff so-so.
Excellent location, lovely building, nice village. Surrounded by fabulous walking opportunities and awesome scenery.
Staff helpful and friendly. Food gorgeous and plentiful ( no room for pud after main course and that’s not like me).

Very friendly staff and excellent food
Room was a bit tired but we understand that refurbishment is planned
IT WAS A REST STOP EN ROUTE FROM SCOTLAND. VERY CONVENIENT FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CRAGSIDE NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY. MANAGER STEVE AND HIS #2 STEVE WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
Clean, bright, modern room, comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent. The breakfast was good, freshly cooked, with a good choice.
Very friendly helpful staff Hotel perfectly located for Rothbury town centre a short pleasant walk from the Hotel or even shorter via the "stepping stones" across the River Coquete.
Suggest however you ask for a lower room as stairs a little tiring after a walk, or is it climb, around Cragside
Great location , quiet at edge of village and within easy walking distance. Lovely old building very clean and tidy. Staff helpful and friendly.
Large clean room. Terrible bed very hard and in need of replacement luckily we had a family room with a single bed or the main bed would have caused us more problems. Bedside lamp and sockets not working on one side of the the main bed.
Food was average at best, the beef bland and tough.
Breakfast was slow in being served. Problems with overcharging when checking out

Good, well-priced hotel near Alnwick and Cragside
Warm welcome and particularly good food were the hallmarks of this hotel. Although the decor was slightly faded, the atmosphere was welcoming as were the staff and the excellent Maitre D’.
On the edge of the lovely, peaceful village of Rothbury, the hotel is perfectly situated for a visit to fascinating NT house, Cragside, (5 minutes) and Alnwick castle and gardens (15 minutes).
Second visit to the hotel. Great Staff, comfortable room, lovely breakfasts, evening meal in the hotel a must. Will visit again, ideal for visiting Cragside.
The hotel was nice enough but a few niggles meant our stay wasn’t as good as other hotels we have stayed in, in Rothbury. Lots of stairs, uncomfortable bed, cold shower and the breakfast was adequate. We didn’t eat other meals there so cannot comment on food but the choice was basic. Staff were friendly and helpful and when we complained about the cold shower someone came up with key to the room next door and offered us that shower until they could get someone to look at it. We were told all was OK when we returned later that day, but next morning, you guessed it, shower went cold after a couple of minutes. We love Rothbury but will be going back to the place we usually stay in future.
we had a relaxing few days in a great location
staff very friendly room amazing food really good can recommend the steak !!!

Steve the manager was very obliging and offered help with our bags. With three floors to negotiate and no lift it was good exercise after travelling all day in a car!
Steve’s good sense of humour and response to a minor issue ( lack of hot water) was first class. Dinner, although excellent was almost the size of a starter dish so a little disappointing.
However, the hotel was good value for money although for tall people there are duck and weave issues in the third floor rooms which are in the loft area of the building.
Would I return? Most certainly!
