Everything was wonderful except that it did mot feel like there was much recognition of VIP status. No bottles of wine were offered or room upgrade. We had to argue for the room we orginally paid for and also we were downgraded for the end of our stay. It felt like we paid a lot of money ($450/nt) to not be treated like anything special. $450 is a lot of momey in Portugal. or anywhere..it was disappointing. I think the staff is very nice but they seemed stressed. The management forces them to sell rooms out from under reserved guests. There seemed to be other angry guests. That is not a good way to run business. The rate should be guaranteed.

Beautiful Setting!

I booked this Hotel because I wanted to be right on the River Douro and the setting was perfect! It is definitely worth paying extra for a river view, our room was so beautiful (and comfortable!).

We Loved our stay at the Pestana Vintage Porto Hotel! The location right along the Douro River was incredible; nothing beat standing on our balcony and staring at the Dom Luis Bridge and all of the vineyards in Gaia across the river. The food and staff were wonderful as well. I would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to book our next trip back!

The property was in an ideal location on the river. The view from our room was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and nicely appointed. I would definitely stay here again when I’m Porto. The breakfast was very nice, although you the staff were a little disorganized. You had to be be on your toes for service.
