I have stayed here before & i really like the Captain Cook Inn. Great location, huge rooms, nice bar and a short walk to the village centre. Food available on site and a good breakfast available included. Spacious en-suite bathroom, room had everything i needed and also had a fab view. The room decor (i.e carpet/paint) is a little tired now, but the staff were hard working and everything was clean and safe, quiet and comfortable, and i wouldnt complain about anything as i enjoyed every minute in Staithes!

Very friendly and clean. An excellent choice of rooms up to a family room with double and 2 singles. Good restaurant at the hotel along with a selection of beers and ciders on draught. First rate breakfast to set you up for a day’s walking.

Not squeeky clean

Great location with parking. Bar area cosy and bar staff friendly. Good home cooked food. Friendly locals. Room needed a deep clean. Mouldy tiles, lots and lots of hairs :/ carpet needed cleaning. Beds squeeky so didnt get much sleep at all. Room very hot even with both windows wide open- in March. Lovely selection of tea and biscuits but need bigger cups.

Hospitality At It's Best

Staithes is a great place to visit and we were made to feel welcome by the bar staff the minute we arrived at The Captain Cook Inn. Had a lunch snack wheb we arrived and evening meal. The quality of the food was good and the chef very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble when it came to catering for special dietry requirements - even went out of the way get gluten free cereal for the next day's breakfast. Room was basic but clean and spacious with everything you need for a comfortable stay and good nights sleep. Bands were playing in the bar the night we were there which seemed to upset some fo the guests but for us that was an added bonus - atmosphere was great and so were the bands. Thank you to all at The Captain Cook Inn, we will definately be making a return visit.

Long Weekend

Pros: It had parking, The room was good and the staff friendly
Location: Parking was a helpful feature. Given the nature of the village. Plenty to see nearby.
We had a great time, the staff were friendly and helpful, Breakfasts were excellent and the meals we ate in the evening were good. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable and the view from there was nice.

Surprisingly good stay!

Pros: Cosy, warm, clean and great room.
I was hiking the Cleveland Way and was staying in Staithes as it was good distance to get to Whitby the next day. I was surprised by Staithes and the Captain Cook in. My room was huge, clean and cosy with a direct view over the fields and the nearby potash mine in Boulby. The pub has some good beers and food and wasn't rowdy at all - so I had a great nights sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. Can't recommend it enough. Please note, after a days walking be warned Staithes is hilly!
