the staff were very good at there job and very helpfull they told us the best walks the food was great and so was the breakfast i will def stay here again
We stayed 3 nights at the Golden Key b&v and it is such a lovely place. Our room was spotless and atmospheric with exposed wooden beans and brick work. It had its own building entrance. The pub below was also great, beautifully designed and the food was amazing. We had breakfast and dinner there every day and it was always really yummy (also plenty of it). All the staff were very friendly. The location for local walks and trips is also perfect. Definitely would stay again. Thank you Golden key!
Friendly, helpful staff. Large, clean room. Dog friendly. Well-kept Adnams real ale. Good breakfast apart from the first day, when it was inedible after a long wait. The staff vacuumed during breakfast on some days instead of before or afterwards. I would also suggest that the chef and his associated staff do not visibly sit by the back door and smoke, which also drifts into the pub. Go to a private area instead. It doesn't give a good impression. Overall a pleasant stay, but please note my remarks for next time. Thanks.
Spent two nights at The Golden Keys, lovely friendly staff and great food. The pub is in a lovely location close to Snape Maltings. The accommodation had a separate entrance from the pub which was comfortable and full of character, with a great bath and shower. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This is a very old pub that has accommodation so be prepared for quirky details such as sloping floors and ceilings. Our room was spotless and the bathroom was very modern and beautifully decorated. The bath had a shower over it and the water pressure was very good. The bed was very comfortable. I think a little attention to detail in the room would have made a difference the main issue was the hooks on both of the curtain rails were broken so the curtains did not close or hang properly. Dinner was had in the restaurant and the service was exemplary, it was the nicest meal I have had in a long time so I commend the chef and staff. I would definitely recommend their steak night. Breakfast time was a little haphazard and lacked a little organisation but the staff were friendly. There was a menu for the cooked breakfast but it wasn’t made obvious that there were other options such as orange juice or porridge. Cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt or toast options were a mystery as to if we could have had them or not which we would have liked but the cooked breakfast was beautifully presented, freshly cooked and very tasty. I would definitely stay here again thank you.
Nice overnight pub for a wedding. Lovely characterful room

Nobody there when we arrived to check in as pub was closed, had to come back 90 minutes later, make sure you arrive before 3 or after 5:30 p.m.. Room was nothing like the one pictured, lots of character with the beams but difficult to move around without banging your head. Noise from the pipes in the night. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Child's bed very uncomfortable.
Lovely hotelmin excellent location.Staff polite friendly and hard working, food and coffee! Excellent, lovely located pub with modern chic but quirky bedroom and very well decorated en suite Parking on site , excellent location to visit Snape, Aldeburgh and nearby locations.Highly recommend and will go again.
Loved the location, great food at the pub and cute room for what we needed. Small downside- bring eye masks as there is an emergency light by the steps that can’t turn off and is super bright. also there is a kettle in the room but no tea or mugs likely due to COVID so glad we brought our own :)
The food (evening meal an breakfast) was good and the bed was comfortable but the arrangement of the attic bedroom meant it was almost impossible for me not to bang my head on the ceiling when getting into or out of bed, and I'm not very tall!
Also, the water in the shower stopped flowing suddenly and would not restart.
We reported these things to the staff when checking out and, to their credit, they were sympathetic and knocked money off our bill for the inconvenience.
The potential for this property has not quite been reached. The room we had was lovely but all through the night a persistent noise like some sort of fan kept us from sleeping deeply. The staff had not been alerted to the fact that we required breakfast and did not arrive on site until 9.20 a.m.
This with a check out time of 10 a.m. Disappointed we decided not to stay on. Up side. Excellent dinner the night before and dog was welcomed.
Sloping floors, exposed old beams and the most charming ambiance made this Inn a highlight. We came for the Aldeburgh Festival and rather than stay in Aldeburgh, we chose The Golden Key. It was an easy walk to the festival and a most pleasant experience at the Inn. Quiet and clean, the room was also the biggest during our two week vacation. Definitely need a car which was our only goof.
