It's a very friendly place. The free breakfasts really hit the spot. Sometimes there's even dinner. The staff is extremely helpful. There's plenty of private bathrooms. The blanket on my bed was this wool flannel thing, which I just loved. There was this ingenuous little drape setup around the bed which offers a fair degree of privacy, as well as a personal lamp and fan. It's pretty centrally located, as far as shopping and pubs and the like. The common area has a nice setup, and there's even a few recliners. I managed to do my laundry there too, which is great if you've been on the road for a bit.

For a hostel I thought Green Tortoise was really nice. The location was excellent and walking distance to many places. You need some agility to climb up to the top bunk and it takes some extra time to use the bathroom, shower, and locker for a suitcase, but it wasn't ever a problem. You can store food in the kitchen and cook for yourself if you have time. The staff was always friendly and helpful.

Location is the best, smacked right in Downtown and just 2 min walk away from the Pike Place Market. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Truly one of the best hostels I’ve been!
