we didnt even stay, handed the key back as soon as we saw the dilapidated condition of the room, we stayed here many years ago and was more than disappointed to see the terrible sad condition of the hotel today

Food was excellent both at Dinner and Breakfast . Breakfast staff particularly friendly. Long Melford is a beautiful village full of charm. We had room 22 which was sold as a superior room. The furnishings in the room were very tired and disappointingly I could not see how this was a superior room? The room was at the front of the hotel and although it had secondary glazing there was as a window pane missing from the main window , hence lots of traffic noise in the early hours led to hours of missed sleep!

Great hotel in a beautiful setting.

Loved my stay at The Bull, was not expecting the standard we got. A beautiful Tudor (I think..) building with loads of character. When they lit the fireplace during our lovely meal in the restaurant we were sold. Everyone were really friendly and helpful. We even got an upgrade. Great!

A pleasant stay

We stayed two nights for a friend's wedding in July and had a wonderful time. Our room was huge and situated at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street in Long Melford. It was clean and all the furnishings comfortable - particularly the bed! Decent shower pressure too, although I would prefer a seperate cubicle rather than an over the bath style. The hotel even provided a tall standing fan asit was the middle of a heatwave, unfortunately this had a neligible effect but not their fault. Cooked breakfast was included in our rate, this was perfectly fine and edible, not the best I've had though. We loved the quirkiness of the layout and the little nooks and crannies, might get on some people's nerves however. As we were attending a wedding I can't really comment on the noise levels but suffice it to say we got a decent night's sleep regardless. All in all, good value for money and a central location for exploring Long Melford.
