Having driven past this Hotel many times it was a spur of the moment booking. However an unexpected hospital stay meant that after trying to reschedule, and this not being an option, it was decided to give our 2 night stay a go. The Hotel and surroundings were as good as anticipated, the 3 course evening meal and service faultless however the bed was to hard/uncomfortable so the stay was cut short.

Lovely peaceful place to stay

This is a wonderful property in a great position. The room I was allocated was lovely especially for me and my little dog. The staff on reception were great! The whole experience was wonderful. There was the choice of the beach near by or sit around the heated pool or sit in the peaceful gardens with a view of the sea. The only thing I would say is that I don’t eat huge meals and the restaurant only offered 2 or 3 courses in the evenings and wasn’t worth the money for me.

I was in one of the Forest Rooms overlooking the carpark. I had my own deck area to sit and watch the nuthatches etc in the trees and walked through the woods, seeing deer along the way, to swim in the sea. Location excellent. Bus service outside the hotel. Breakfast unlimited. I loved this place!

A lovely dog friendly hotel in beautiful surroundings. We really enjoyed our stay at Knoll House, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our family room had fresh linen on the beds and the bathroom had been refurbished in recent years. The hotel decor dates back to the 70’s & 80’s but appeared in generally good order. We did not dine in the restaurant, but thoroughly enjoyed a well presented buffet breakfast including a selection of cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices, etc and a not to be missed English breakfast. The beach is a short walk away and there are plenty of other walks in the immediate area including to Old Harry Rocks offering amazing clifftop views. We also enjoyed use of the indoor swimming pool and spa facilities available until 5pm, which we would have liked to stay later. Overall a perfect first visit to the seaside for our 9 month old Golden Retriever. We were very happy with our stay and intend to return again in the summer. I have scored the hotel 4 out of 5 stars purely because of the age of the decor which could do with updating, but did not effect our stay.

It’s a quirky hotel. You love it or you don’t. We happened to love it. It’s need some updating, but without loosing any of its character. Excellent location. Dogs allowed. Good traditional breakfast, nothing fancy, but enough. Dinner options more sophisticated. Game room, cinema room, bar, outstanding views… Great stay for anytime of the year. Lots of regular customers. I give one star less because of some musty smell of the room and not fully functional bathroom sink. However this wouldn’t stop us from coming back happily again!

Great location, with easy access to a lovely sandy beach. Good family facilities - outdoor pool, indoor plunge pool, tennis courts, pitch and put, games room, etc. Nice breakfast. An evening meal was ok; nothing more. The hotel is just a bit tired in general and needs a bit of TLC.

Don’t ever change the Knoll House Hotel !

We loved being at Knoll House Hotel… it was like stepping back in time … such an interesting history and it was warmly welcoming. We loved the spa and outside pool and being near the sea for swimming . The staff were really helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. We had a room right at the back of the property which was very peaceful. I’ve heard that developers are knocking at the door but please don’t change anything about this Hotel. We love it just the way it is. Keep it for everyone.
