a great place to stay

Pros: everything.
Cons: sorry to say this but badger beer is not my favourite. the guiness is top hole.
Location: lovely village, lots to do, too muchto list
my wife and i spent a long week-end, staff and owner bang on room on the small side but very clean and comfortable, breakfast = good , evening meal = very good. the local clientele are really nice friendly people and made us feel at home. bravo !!

Must try harder

Pros: location, waiting staff, breakfast
Cons: pictures in bedroom, make sure there is plenty tea and coffee, get some tartare sauce in
Location: lovely village and friendly locals
Like all hotel stays, there were highs and lows. On the positive side it was a great location (but NB 2.5 miles from Tring centre), the staff were generally good and we had a great breakfast. However some of the 'basics' were missing. There was a kettle and biscuits etc in our room but the bowl with it contained ONE tea bag and about 30-40 sachets of sugar ! We asked for some more and were given extra T bags but no coffee (this was promised but did not materialise). At dinner I had fish but they had no tartare sauce......My wife's meal was very good. The room was a bit basic, with no pictures and a small (?20/22 inch) technika TV. Bed was comfortable though. All in all we were undecided about rating this a 3 or 4 and decided on 3 because some of the 'easy wins' were missing
