Very pleasant surprise

Picked a hotel convenient for a nearby wedding. Nine of us stayed and all agreed the hotel was great,

Great location and concept But...

Understaffed and staff not trained. Particularly in the restaurant where. £40 bottle of Chablis was plonked on the table with cork in it with the words ‘here you go, Chablis’. A pleasant girl but not trained and tun off her feet. Food was disappointing, over cooked cod loin, small portion and although menu sounded good , food was bland. Would not eat dinner here , although breakfast was very good, plenty of variety, buffet style. Spa was chaotic, no appointments available and very ungracious staff member. It’s the way disappointing news of no availability is delivered. Pool area very busy and noisy , full of non hotel guests who use it as their local health club, Aqua class with about 50 people made impossible to relax or have a swim. We had a luxury suite with beautiful view , balcony etc, was lovely but could not get hot water. If you can get a good deal it’s worth it but not if you pay top dollar and Do Not eat dinner here you will ge disappointed.

Staff are excellent,

The staff at this hotel are the best in the business, they bend over backwards to help you, very polite and nothing is to much trouble for them. We had a great short break.

Excellent place to stop

Hotel condition is excellent, bar is pleasant and room were superb. All round great night to stop on business. Next time, I'll take my clubs because the golf course looks excellent. Great room rates as well including breakfast.

Problems

When we arrived at 7pm the hotel had no reference of our stay and no rooms. The sister hotel was also fully booked and they only solved it after ringing the guests who had not arrived and found a couple who would not make it. They looked after us and were very helpful so not sure what went wrong but would like to know. The hotel will be making their own enquiries.
