This was our second stay at Sutton Place. During our first visit, we stayed in a very clean double-bed room with a great view. However, this time we were placed in a suite that did not meet our cleanliness expectations. The bedroom carpet was wet, which made us uncomfortable, and the only other room available on the residential side was also not as clean as the suite.

If you have a room facing Burrard, be prepared to listen to fire truck sirens all night long. The restaurant isn’t open all day especially at check in time which is 4:00. I ordered the cheese plate from room service and got 3 pieces of cheese and characters for $22. The room was clean and comfortable. I do like it a little cooler than 18.5C while I sleep and that’s the lowest the thermostat can go. The $40 upgrade covered the buffet breakfast that wasn’t anything special but was adequate. Jacuzzi was hotter than most which I loved.

Check in time was 4pm. We arrived at 3:45 and our room wasn't ready. The clerk said she would phone my cell when the room was ready, at 5:10 I went back to the desk and was told my room was ready. However no phone call so we don't know when the room was actually ready. When I made the reservations I was going to be getting a room on the 14th floor, she told me my room was on the 5th floor, when I told her about what I was expecting, she laughed! I was very disappointed, and will not return to this hotel in the future!
