Very nice hotel. Perfect location. The rooms are very clean and beautiful. The only downfall was the breakfast which was a bit disappointing. Not a lot of choice.

Dream hotel

I am disabled and use a wheelchair. I did need to walk across a bridge to the hotel, but once there everything was perfect. Breakfast was varied and very tasty. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a holiday

Retired couple 5 night trip to venice

Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Hotel in good location for sight seeing and travelling to and from airport. We had booked a superior room which was comfortable, clean and well decorated in Venetian style although it was very small with no outlook. We were told rooms overlooking the canal were 50 euros extra per night. The room service was excellent with clean bedding and towels each day. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold food and plenty of chose. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent. We would recommend this hotel and apart from the small room size could not fault it .

Great week spent at Carlton on The Grand canel Venice

ack in Venice for 1 week after 12 years and we loved it. The hotel was excellent, we did pay for the superior room but did not opt for the canal frontage, since we did not expect to be staying in our room that much. The size and space was lovely with a traditional venetian feel and Murano Glass chandelier. Bed was comfortable and extra pillows were provided the minute I asked for them. Try the restaurant particularly if you are a foodie, their chef is excellent. In fact it works out better value then eating in some other places we tried. The Chef Sig. Alphonso (if that spells OK) is very well schooled in Italian Cuisine both classical and modern fusion. Front of house team is run by Sig Phillipo and Sig Enrico assisted by Dario and Ivan and the lovely Lucia. We didn't get time to meet the breakfast crew but the lovely ladies made us feel welcome and stocked the ample buffet collazione (B'fast) with all sorts of yummey goodies. It is worth taking the bfast option as that kept us going virtually all day. The location is great, short walk from the bus station, train station opposite and a host of takeaways and coffee bars open almost 24/7 as you approach the rail station. Handy if you want a pocket bottle of water for 1.5 euro to take on your travels. Also handy if you want a quick coffee on the way back to the hotel as you step off the ACTV water bus. TIP step of an ACTV turn left walk just past the station to a newer build block and you will find a nice self service locals café with cappuccino for 1.5 euros (near the Mango shop). We did not stay for the lavish 10 course new years eve party (yes it really was 10 courses) only because the weather was dry and we wanted to mingle with the crowds at St Marks, watch fireworks, pop a mini bottle of Proseco, and hug a few strangers **!!?* we got back to the hotel around 2am with the in house party coming to a close. First time for us out and about with such a huge crowd but it was fun. I will say it is better to hang about and let the crowds disperse after the fireworks or book a water taxi straight off the key back to your hotel. There are loads of places to eat in Venice and the Reception team will always offer you a few recommendations about where to go. Reception is also your first port of call if you need anything and they are quick at organising your request quickly and efficiently. The hotel will organise a run to Murano for you with a visit to the glass factory, well worth the ride. We actually got to Murano by accident on the ACTV so tagged along with a mixed group of tourists, met the glass artisan, wifey bought some very pretty trinkets and I got a lovely pair of cufflinks all for a very modest outlay. Take time to get to know the team at the hotel. Our housekeeper always prepared our room beautifully after we left for our daily jaunts, or knocked discreetly if we were still about. We met the chef as he did his restaurant round to make sure food was as delicious as it looked. We found service to be very professional, a real joy, likewise we always dressed well for dinner as a sign of our reciprocation to the service and why wouldn't you? after all you are in Venice... all the best for the new year all...
