Blending luxury, sophistication and relaxation, a stay in this grand country lodge is an experience in itself. Nestled at the edge of Lulworth Castle Park and set in 3 acres of carefully maintained, mature gardens, Woodside Lodge is just a five minute drive from the idyllic Lulworth Cove and iconic rock arch of Durdle Door.
 

East Lulworth is a historic yet untouched village on the coastal edge of gorgeous Dorset countryside. Only 5 minutes from the coast, and within easy reach of both Lulworth Cove and the iconic Durdle Door, Woodside Lodge is set on a secluded edge of Lulworth Castle Park, where the 17th Century Hunting Lodge can be seen from the grounds. The Weld Arms Pub & Kitchen is within walking distance and serves incredible locally sourced food and drink. Past & Presents is a gift shop and cafe which offers local art, quirky antiques and fantastic homewares and gifts. Slightly further afield, there are convenience stores in the nearby villages of West Lulworth and Wool, and all major supermarkets are able to deliver groceries directly to Woodside Lodge. There are several lovely walks from Woodside Lodge. Lulworth Lake is a hidden gem right in the middle of the Lulworth countryside. Arish Mell, your closest accessible coastal walk, is within Ministry of Defence land and while the beach itself is inaccessible, the views from the surrounding hills are unmissable. Of course, the walks from Lulworth Castle Park are stunning and really give a feel for the country estate. This is a pet-friendly property; a maximum of two well behaved dogs are welcome and well provided for; you will find food and water bowls, a towel and poo bags for your dog(s). Please note that the grounds are not secure and so your dogs will need to be supervised when exploring the grounds.

Layout:
Woodside Lodge is extremely spacious and provides everybody the opportunity to relax and to be social. Set in expansive grounds, with Lulworth Castle visible from the outskirts, mature gardens and lawns reach over a small lake towards the Castle Grounds where sheep often graze. The picturesque boat house on the lake is the perfect place to read a book while listening to the sounds of birds and the babbling water feature. Guests can make full use of the gated, heated swimming pool (open April-September) and poolside lounge chairs to while away long, lazy summer days. A convenient pool changing room is situated inside a side entrance to the property. The Games Room, in a converted stable block, offers a table tennis table as well as lawn games. The paved barbecue area with top quality charcoal barbeque provides a real atmosphere for grilling up a storm for your family and friends. Serve at the outdoor dining terrace which features a very large table and comfortable chairs to seat 14. You could easily spend the whole evening here, while listening to gentle music through the outdoors speakers for that perfect evening ambiance.

Inside, there is one twin bedroom,  and six bedrooms with superking beds, four of which can be made into twin beds upon request. Four of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with either a walk-in shower or a shower over a bath, or both. A super king/twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is located on the ground floor, offering added convenience for guests. The property comfortably sleeps 14 people in total. In all bedrooms, we provide goose down and microfibre pillows, and luxuriously crisp white Beaumont & Brown linen for your comfort. The Lulworth Castle Suite is your master, and features a dressing room and large bathroom with both a roll top bath, his-and-hers basins, and a walk in shower. A comfortable cotton robe is also provided for each person, along with fluffy white towels, pool towels, and Lulworth body wash, hand soap and shampoo.

The gloriously well-equipped country kitchen is impeccably styled and features two dishwashers, a large American style fridge-freezer plus an additional fridge in the large pantry. There is both an AGA and a range cooker for your convenience. In the breakfast nook there is an electric log effect burner and a large table to seat 10 around a TV. For your evening meals, the formal dining room seats 14 in an opulently furnished room, with views out of the comfortable and sunny Orangery, towards the grounds. The Drawing Room features a library and baby grand piano.

Throughout Woodside Lodge, an integrated SONOS sound system allows you to play music through the speakers in each room. The Cinema Room is designed to the highest specification of soundproofing, meaning you can easily while away an evening watching your favourite films on Netflix or SkyQ, or playing games on the PlayStation 4 on the projector screen without disturbing anybody with the powerful sound system.

You will have uninterrupted access to every part of the property and grounds. There is ample car parking at the property for up to 5 cars. If you require additional parking, the property has access to private overflow parking which we can highlight to you at check in. 

Our guests also enjoy free parking in the public car parks at Durdle Door beach, Lulworth Cove and Lulworth Castle on receipt of valid car registrations (up to 5). Check in at 4pm with a meet and greet service by our representative. You’ll be given a short tour, including how to work the appliances, cinema room, SONOS sound system and all the quirky features of the Cottage, before being free to relax for the duration of your stay. Maintenance team members will attend each day to attend to the pool, and landscaping gardeners attend each Friday. A member of our team is always available at the end of the phone or email should any problems arise.

A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome and well provided for; you will find food and water bowls, a towel and poo bags for your dog(s). Please note that the grounds are not secure and so your dogs will need to be supervised when exploring the grounds.

Central heating and good Wi-Fi are included in your holiday. Phone signal may be limited so we have provided a landline for local calls. To ensure Woodside Lodge meets your mobility requirements, please read the access statement.

Each year, The Lulworth Estate hosts the family-friendly Camp Bestival within the Lulworth Castle Grounds. If booking to stay at The Lindens for the full duration of Camp Bestival weekend, you and your party will receive complimentary entry to the festival. Please note for the few weeks before and after the festival, Lulworth Castle & Grounds will be closed to the public: this includes woodland walks, permissive footpaths, the children’s playground, and the direct access gate linking Woodside Lodge to the Castle & Grounds.

Please note there is a £1,000 security deposit payable prior to your stay.

Woodside Lodge is situated close to the Lulworth Ranges, where military training and live firing may be heard dependent on wind direction. Please be aware that over the the last weekend in July each yeat, Camp Bestival takes place at Lulworth Castle. During the weeks around the festival, please note that the Castle Grounds will be closed to the public, including the direct access gate linking Woodside Lodge to the Castle Grounds. There will be some road traffic diversions in place in the local area. Please expect heavy traffic in the immediate vicinity over the festival itself, and an increase in festival production vehicles for an extended period before and after the weekend.
