Room on top floor. Lift was working.
Twin room, room was a bit tired and could do with redecoration. Facilities were fine, tea and coffee in the room.
Breakfast was good, traditional or other available. Dinner was in the annexed bar. Food included in my hotel price and was very good. Good selection.
Parking was available at a charge of 6 ounds per day.

A lovely old building but interior rather dated and in need of some decorating.
Room allocated had view of a wall. Reception kindly moved us.
£6 to park overnight
Emailed hotel to advise that my husband was diabetic and requested cheese board for dessert they said they couldn't do that, offered sorbet which is full of sugar or fruit salad. In one email they even suggested that we brought our own cheese board and staff would serve it!!!! Dreadful customer service.
Morning waiter was rude and unhelpful.
Food was the worst we have ever had. The soup had no taste at all and we sent it back.
Main meal was also poor and the sticky toffee pudding was burned on the bottom.
The location of the hotel was a good 6 minutes drive away from Windermere.
The hotel bar was very expensive.
We wouldn't recommend or return to this hotel.
All staff very welcoming and informative, nothing too much trouble, dining room/breakfast was first class, pity the same can't be made for the bathroom whitch is very small, and was let down by bodged repairs, the towel rail had an external wire coming from the thermostat to the socket and was taped up with black tape, not very reassuring, in the brochure it states two minutes from the lakes, a bit optimistic took me nearly four in a car.

I am a disabled driver, and out of I’d say 150 odd spaces… only x3 where disabled, so I really struggled and it caused my knee to flare up again hobbling up the slope in the car park, the carpets look like they’re from 1800’s and the banisters never been cleaned, room was ok though in fairness
Having not been to The Lake District for many years and now a homeowner, i am cost conscious, but wanting a great experience. Welcomed by a very friendly member of hotel staff. Shown to room which was "small but perfectly formed!" Bed was very comfortable but curtains need to be fixed properly to the eyes. They didnt close properly either.
Shower very good and nice hot temperature. Pretty good views.
I didnt pay for breakfast or dinner as i was seeing a cousin of mine but they both looked and smelt very good.
I would recommend this hotel to everybody. There is a lovely walk up to a viewpoint overlooking Windermere lake, taxing and gentle options, but you have to do it.
Carpets though out were
shabby and looked neglected ,our room so compact for a double there was only room for 1 chair ,hardly any hanger in wardrobe and the door was about falling off, bath panels was broken and falling off, no window or working extractor fan ,the towel heater radiator was taped together with installation tape didn't like turn it so don't know if it worked or not,the bed can only be described as knackered. When we asked about evening meal we were told that they only catered for large parties and not for staying guests. All in all it a disgusting place to stay and i would recommend that you wash your hands of them a take them off your list of recommend hotels. Our children payed in advance as present for our 50th wedding anniversary otherwise we would have walked out on the 1st night.sorry to go on but it was a sh.. hole. Not worth half of money we payed.

Location was ideal for Windermere and just a short walk (25mins ish) to Bowness on Windermere
Staff were friendly and welcoming
Zero flexibility with check in times (we arrived at 2:30 and couldn’t check in until 3)
Breakfast was great, would have liked more fruit options though rather than just sliced peaches
Room was tired and outdated but clean
Beds were a little too hard for our preference
Good amenities in the room - hairdryer, kettle and towel rail
No extractor fan in the bathroom meant it was very steamy and left the room a little damp feeling
Shower had an accessibility handle far far too close to the shower, the combination of that and the shower curtain constantly blowing in made it almost impossible to shower comfortably without getting a faceful of curtain or getting f bashed by the handle (even as a 5ft 2 petite female)
No issues with parking (stayed may half term)
A little expensive given that the rooms need a fair bit of TLC but would stay again and recommend for the breakfast and good location
Great value, a short walk to the town, and about a 20 minute walk to the lake. The room was comfortable , the staff were very polite and helpful, and no issue parking, th3 shower was amazing.

I’ve stayed in places far more expensive that were a lot worse. It’s by all means not the best place in the Lakes but the price you pay reflects what you get👍
