Hyatt Carmel Highlands
"I’m usually pretty easygoing with hotels, and I’m used to them being at least reasonably quiet, but the walls and ceilings here were unbelievably thin. You could hear every single footstep from the room above, including constant walking and stomping late into the night. Between that and the smoke detector flashing a bright light every 30 seconds directly into the room, it was extremely difficult to get any sleep. I’ve honestly never experienced noise this bad at a hotel before. The check-in process was also frustrating. After getting our room keys from the front desk, we were sent to another desk to get a parking pass. That second stop turned into a timeshare sales pitch where we had to repeatedly say no just to get the parking pass we actually came for. It felt very pushy and honestly left a bad first impression, especially considering how much we were already paying to stay there. The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. We walked up for breakfast and politely asked if there was availability for two people. The response we got, very coldly, was: “$130 per person, with mandatory gratuity.” That didn’t even answer the question we asked, and the interaction made us feel completely unwelcome. We ended up leaving and spending that same $130 per person at another restaurant where we were actually treated like guests instead of inconveniences. One smaller complaint is that the TVs are not smart TVs. After long days out, it would’ve been nice to relax and watch Netfl"
