Lovely room but unhelpful staff a let down

The hotel itself is nice. The rooms are clean and it is set in a lovely part of Dumfries. However, having arrived at around 3pm on a Saturday we were surprised to be left standing in the reception area for upwards of 20 minutes waiting to check in as there seemed to be no staff available. Even when we did notice some members of staff they were incredibly rude and continued their non work related conversation whilst ignoring the now queue of customers in reception awaiting service. Hardly the best start.
