Property was good although booking through this ebookers site was mis leading as advertises breakfast included in price but in actual booking it wasnt included!!!!

Reasonable value for money when you get a deal!

Pros: The room, local beer is excellent, the staff.
Cons: Able to relax at the bar area, on one television available in a corner not accessible to everyone. Define eating area from lounge/ bar area.
Location: N/A
Smiths is a pleasant hotel, looks good but not perfect. The dinning area is nice for a quiet meal, low light, not over busy but not suitable for breakfast in my opinion, I do not want breakfast in a dark hole, break fast meal is good but keeping everything hot is a problem, bacon is only suitable for the soles of your shoes. Lounge is nice but not big enough, the dining area should become part of the lounge, a new layout of the function areas should incorporate a dining area. Rooms are nice but you want a room at the front of the hotel as the motorway is a constant noise 24/7 at the rear....The staff work very hard to make sure you are looked after, a bit run off their feet sometimes but manage.

Smith's at Gretna Green

I use Smiths regularly when en-route to Edinburgh from Cheshire. Excellent location just off M74. Modern, clean hotel with excellent food (sadly no real ale!). Great rooms. Free internet access.
