Pensione Guerrato's proximity to the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge makes it an ideal home base for excursions, but still in a neighborhood that is peaceful and quiet. The Gelato place around the corner (Venchi) has the best Gelato I found in Italy (they coat the waffle cones with chocolate of your choice), and the capuccino at Guerrato itself was excellent. We had to rise early one morning at 5:30 am, before their sumptuous breakfast was served, and the staff was invaluable both in securing a water taxi, and giving us coffee while we waited. Really, it was the perfect spot for our visit to Venice.

Was very happy with our stay, but note: no elevator. Stayed on the 4th floor and had to haul up our luggage. Staff was wonderful- gave us many great restaurant suggestions. I emailed them before I arrived for directions on how to get there from the airport. Their directions were perfect. Breakfast was extremely good.

Front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful for sightseeing suggestions/directions. It was a short 5 minute walk from the Rialto Mercato vaporetto water bus stop to the hotel. Sights were within a 15 minute walking radius. Rialto Bridge an easy 3 minute walk. Restaurant options are everywhere within a few steps from the hotel as well as the market for some fresh fruit. You can go to Ferrovia vaporetto stop to the train station to go to Verona and other cities. A bit noisy in the square outside the hotel but had the windows closed and the bathroom fan on and it was fine. Beds and linens are comfy. Bodywash/shampoo provided. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious. Croissants were the best. We were so full we skipped lunch. Visited Murano too which we got to using the Vaporetto water bus. Stayed overnight and had a great 2 days in Venice. This hotel made our stay easy and happy.

No complains about the staff or room, but if you are coming from the airport or Railway station the water bus stop is on the other side of the Rialto bridge which means you will have to cross the bridge which has a huge amount of steps lugging your luggage which is extremely difficult. Then to get to the hotel there is another long set of stairs to climb with the luggage as its on the first floor. Then there is another flight of stairs to get to your room. It was extremely difficult for us.

The staff is kind and knowledgable and go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable, with recommendations as well.Location was ideal close to Realto bridge and close to water station. only negative is there is no elevator and you have to hall language through the stairs to room level you are staying

Decent and comfortable hotel, but be aware there is no elevator and all rooms are on 3rd floor (4 flight of stairs). Lugging the bags up and down and climbing the stairs after walking all over Venice was no fun. Front desk staff were friendly but did not offer to help with bags (no bell hop service). In addition old fashioned keys were a pain to open all doors.

Couldn’t fault it! Room was immaculate, staff were so helpful and welcoming, breakfast was lovely, and the location is great. Music from a bar outside was loud on Friday night but it stopped at 11pm so didn’t really affect our night’s sleep. We had a twin room and the beds were very comfy

This hotel was established in the 1200s. Its quite old obviously, the entrance is not what you'd expect from a hotel but for us it was perfect. It is a ways from the train station, however I later found out you can get to it by water taxi easily for 9.5 euros. It is very close to the Rialto Bridge. Our room was an upgraded room that was only 1 floor up from the reception, thank God. A very nice room with a king bed and a private bathroom. It was not inexpensive, but well worth it. Other rooms were 3 - 4 flights up and there is no elevator. So pack light!
