Review of Motel 6 Big Bear Lake – Disappointing Experience for the Price My stay at Motel 6 Big Bear Lake was underwhelming, especially given the $245 per night rate. Here are the key issues: • Check-in Process: It took 40 minutes to check in due to a system issue. The key system was down, causing multiple guests to return to the front desk unable to access their rooms, which further delayed check-ins. The staff member on duty was polite and apologetic but seemed overwhelmed and uninformed, requiring multiple calls for assistance. • Room Quality: The rooms are very old and outdated, far from what you’d expect at this price point. • Amenities: • Blankets are extremely thin—bring your own, especially in winter. • Towels are cheap and thin, and the room is initially stocked with only two. Additional towels require a trip to the front desk. • Dining options are very limited, especially after 6 PM, so plan accordingly. Overall, the only positive was the friendly staff, but the hotel’s condition, lack of efficiency, and outdated amenities make it not worth the price. Consider alternative accommodations in the area.

The worst motel experience EVER! There was no workers, no light, had to wait 2 hours to do our check in, freezing conditions and we had kids with us.!

Just Don't. Apparently when there is wind or snow and power gets shut off this motel isn't considered a part of the commercial necessity. So while others have power you will be left with not power, no heat, no hot water, and no service. Staff left a note saying they will be back when power is back. No way of contacting with question. Also with no heat and blankets super thin we had to sleep in our snow gear to stay warm. The hotel didnt have extra blankets for us. Just horrible service. In a town where high winds and snow is suppose to be the norm they should be better prepared. While they can't control when the power gets cut how they are prepared is what shocked me. Also forget about any amenities they didn't even have a blow dryer in the room and barely any outlet which. They had two outlets in the entire room one outlet for the fridge and microwave and one open by the door. Nothing by the bed very inconvenient. As a regular at Big Bear I will stay clear of this place. For similar price or cheaper you can do better.

Did not stay at property. Attempted to checkin twice and was unsuccessful. First time was told that power went out in all of Big Bear. Which was a lie. Second time a few hours later, waited for front desk clerk for 30 minutes along with 10 other individuals. Phone lines did not work. Front desk clerk never showed up. I was forced to book another hotel for the night. I was unable to cancel reservation as the option on Expedia was no longer an option amd could not get a hold of hotel clerk. I was charged for the night even though I never stayed. Will be contactjng Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint.

Bad customer service.

It was an unpleasant stay due to staff being unhelpful as the power went out for several hours. Customer service was horrible. At this hotel. Front desk hung up on me twice without hearing my concerns.

A portion of Big Bear City had a PLANNED power outage because of a storm coming. Motel 6 staff never notified customers of the power outage. When myself and numerous other arrived to check in, they could not check anybody in because of no power. By 8pm still no power and the storm had hit. Snow blizzard with freezing temperature. Numerous customers were stranded in the Motel 6 parking lot for hours trying to figure out what to do. At some point the Motel 6 staff left the property. I was forced to drive 4 hours home at night in the blizzard.

Pay a bit more and stay elsewhere

Room was very dirty. Low water pressure making taking a shower almost impossible. Shower water would literally reduce to a few drops if neighboring rooms used their water. When trying to call front desk, phone was dead. This is the first time we’ve ever stayed at a place so run down.

Someone used the room next door as a dog sitting service. Let two dogs stay there and barking all night. To my surprise the staff was unable to do anything about it. Horrible experience. Never again. The walls are paper thin. Above our head we had people stomping all night long doing god knows what. Paying premium for a hotel next time for sure!
