Property Needs Some Attention

Rating is 3 out of 5, my two-night stay at the Sonesta Boca Raton was okay but unremarkable. The hotel feels a bit dated and could use some maintenance. I also encountered a few bugs in the room, which was disappointing. That said, the front desk staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful, which was a highlight of the experience.

Ok for a short stay, could use some improvements

Hotel location was very close to our event. Check in was a bit disappointing. Prior to arriving I did request an early check in and was told only if available. When we arrived I asked the young lady if the room was available and was told no but that they would call me once it became available. A few hours went by as we waited around and noticed others checking in so we decided to ask and was then told by the young man that they had plenty of rooms?? Fine, we checked in and was given the wrong type of room so called the front desk and was told to come back down to change rooms. The final room was fine and in better location, so that was resolved. The pool filter was not working properly, we also notified the front desk and they did attempt to clean it with the pool robot, that did improve the condition for the afternoon. Overall the hotel was clean but the hallways are dark and the carpets could use some updating.

We booked this hotel after our current reservation at another hotel was a disaster and had to be cancelled. Luckily, the Sonesta had a room available and we had stayed there before. Very friendly staff made all the difference in turning our frowns upside down!

There’s better options out there

The staff was very friendly and the location is convenient to I-95 and FAU. No complaints there! We had a suite and it was just okay. There was a horrible odor in the room. They had no more suites available so moving rooms wasn’t an option. I stopped a housekeeper and she gave me a bottle of air freshener. It barely helped. The furniture in the room is out dated. The couch was an oval shape, super uncomfortable and had stains on it along with the throw pillows. The bathroom was tiny and cramped. The tub caulking was stained and it looked like a 4 year old applied it. The hotel rooms definitely need updating! Maybe start with new carpet to get rid of the horrible smell.
