Room had an odor that multiple people smelt. A family member had the room the previous day, felt it had an odor, and staff even acknowledged the issue. Requested a refund which was not honored by the front desk staff.

Nice room, we will be back

To be clear, it is entirely likely we will stay here again. Please keep that in mind as you read. I'm not sure why this property is rated 8.8. It is a solid 6. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was hard to operate as the temp control did not work. No big deal. My wife had a bit of trouble with a dog allergy as it appears pets are allowed in every room. An open window fixed this. The outside of the property is a bit run down. Hand rails for stairs are too low, missing or coming out of the wall. Stairs have huge grip strips I tripped on a couple of times. Continental breakfast was less than awesome and we skipped it after our first day for some of our own stuff we had bought. Not a big deal for us, but some might care a bit more. Communication from the property prior to our stay was excellent. We were checking in late and they made sure we were informed. Salida was a surprise. We have driven through a dozen times or more, but this was our first time to stay. We came to ski Monarch and had a blast so we will be back. Things we did and would recommend: * Elevation Brewery - good beer, nifty/eclectic set up. Food truck (Mangia) had a very tasty cheesesteak. * Distillery - Really nice place. Tasty mixed drinks and the Thai food truck was very tasty without the crazy spicy most would associate with Thai food. * Drive through town - The homes in town are gorgeous old structures. Whether a mansion of the time or a restored shack it was fun take the drive.

Our stay was so great! Comfy bed, nice clean room, great water pressure and the water was hot no matter what time of day. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely staying there again when we come back to visit!

Water Leak led to great customer service!

Upon arrival we were told that our room had a water leak. They instead set us up with a room at the Loyal Duke which was fine but smaller than the Suite I had booked. With that said they gave us an additional room and we split our crew up. Absolutely satisfied with that result. Thanks again!
