First and last time staying at this hotel

For the price I paid I was really expecting something decent but this place reminded me of a motel 6. To start out bathroom had no toilet paper or shampoo. The room was so old and dated it was kinda disgusting to be honest. Mold in the shower and the toilet would keep running everytime we flushed. We had one good outlet that worked in the whole room to share between 3 people. The final straw was when house keeping walks into our room at 930 on our checkout day without even bothering to knock

We were charged a $75 “deposit” they didn’t say what it’s for just that it’s refundable plus a $12 amenities fee which looks like it was included through Expedia. Their pool is closed so we can’t use it. Rooms smell like paint and dust.

We loved this place so much that we returned for our latest trip. It was unfortunate that our shower was clogged that couldn’t be fixed…but was accommodated and upgraded to the honeymoon suite. We were so excited and didn’t mind having to pack up everything and move in the middle of the night…but, we were met with a horrible crashing sound that happened like every 30 mins throughout the day. Heads up to anyone staying in that particular room. We were lucky enough that we always bring the white noise machine for the kids, so we blasted it so that the crash sound was not as drastic when it happened during our sleep.

The location of this hotel is perfect. Directly across the street from a premium outlets and close to many food options. Quick drive to downtown Carlsbad and a stones throw from Legoland. The unfortunate part, the hotel was under construction so access to the pool and gym weren’t possible. The room itself was spacious but in need of some updates and a good clean up. Overall, my stay was fine since location wise it was extremely convenient but I was hoping for something a little nicer and cleaner inside the room.

First of all, the staff are very kind, friendly, and helpful. It would’ve been good to know the property is under construction. And that the pool was not in working condition nor the Jacuzzi or other facilities. I unfortunately had great difficulty finding my room as I was dragging my luggage around the property because I had been guided to building D when my room was in building B. The heater in the room was unworkable, possibly due to the construction. And there was no hot water in the shower. It was very cold at night. I did share this with the operations manager who refunded my room tax and amenity fee. Although I don’t really see how hot water and heat our amenities. But that was the best he could do apparently. I would go back again and give them another shot possibly after their construction projects. It’s a good area, safe and the room was clean.

For it being a resort. It lacks a bit with attention to detail. For example my shower door would not stay closed without holding it. Second the Shower water pressure. I understand the fires and saving water but come on. Can I just take a decent shower without feeling like a criminal locked away. I still give them a better rating than I should have. They have potential. And the Outlet mall is right across the street so that’s a bonus.
