Rooms are terribly outdated

DO NOT STAY HERE! DO NOT STAY HERE!! Let’s begin with the good stuff because I do want to give the credit to what’s due: Pros: location is great and lobby is beautiful! You can see that the money went into keeping the lobby up to date because they definitely didn’t do much with the rooms. Cons: I called for a shuttle and was told where to stand and that they would be there in 10 mins …40 mins later no shuttle. I called back and was told the driver just came from there and picked up others but how If I was left? The “return” to pick me up in the same spot I’ve been in and miraculously “find” me….. The rooms are old and worn! I was given a room that was equivalent to an inside stateroom on a cruise ship. There was one high corner window that was a short square with these long drapes The lighting was dark due to the lamp shades in the room and the flickering bulbs. The headboard was peeling everywhere and had what looked like a knife slash in it, the nightstand had cracks in the wood and there was only one small round mirror above a dresser in site. Upon calling to the front desk to ask for a room change I was told by Marvin that if I called back at 330 there would be more available and they could change. So I waited….i had an event to attend so was pushing time…. I called and the lady who answered told me that all the rooms headboards look like that and I should’ve been told this by Marvin. They said they were waiting for new ones to come in……… Ladies the one full length mirr

The checkin process went well. We had some issues with the air, but we think it may have been just figuring out the controller. The elevator was stuck on the 4th fl and our room was on the 5th, so that was a little frustrating. The rooms need some repairs done. Headboard was damaged, missing paint, shower need to be more cleaned and sealed cracks, the refrigerator had stuff all on the door that felt sticky and the microwave was not cleaned. I brought cleaning supplies with me and didn’t mine easing my anxiety. Overall, good service and very hospitable staff. We enjoyed my birthday vacation in Charleston.

The only thing we didn’t like was that the restaurant was open for supper although we were told upon check in that it would be. Other than that it was was a great location and the room was really nice.
