"Pet friendly" means more than just allowing pets to stay on the property. We were greeted by name (did on line check in) and given a room for easy access to taking our pup out, plus she received dog bone treats on check in. Traveling with a pet often means paying more for a less nice hotel - not so at the Baymont Cortez.

We enjoyed the view behind the hotel. Staff was funny, nice and informative. The hot tub and pool were great to use. They had a good variety of food for breakfast. Its a non-smoking hotel but our room smelled like stale cigarettes. We also only had hot water in the shower, we couldn't get it cool enough. We went to 4 corners and Mesa Verde that are near the hotel. There are some great restaurants in Cortez also

First of all check in was quick and easy. The lady at the front desk was very help full. The room was quite large and very clean (no funny smell) The breakfast provided was very good and organized. Over all great place to stay!!!

Paid extra for the jacuzzi tube in response to Expedia option. The morning after we arrived went to draw the tub for my disabled, arthritic wife. Looked high and low for the lever/device that would turn the tub from a shower to a jacuzzi tub. None in the bathroom, in the room, elsewhere, gave up. Later in the day went to the desk asking for a partial refund because the feature I had paid for was not present. Response at the desk was 1.) Can't do it because it was purchased. from Expedia. 2.). The guy at the desk opened what appeared to be a junk drawer, threw a plastic disk towards me: "this is a big one." Didn't look sterile, how could I have known where it came from? 3.) Then a more formal appearing desk person arrived and said that should have come down from the room and asked for a stopper. Then she said that any adjustment would have to be made through the manager, who wouldn't be in the facility until the next morning, "although I don't know what time." Unbelievable that a upgraded feature would not be available. If you are choosing a room, don't go for the tease.

Hotel nice, Hotels.com listing incorrect

Hotels.com needs to change description of rooms. We paid extra for a “nonsmoking double queen” because I hate the smell of cigarettes. It also promised a jetted tub. Turns out the whole hotel is nonsmoking, and there were no jets in the tub. Also bathroom fan screeched. Otherwise, room and beds were comfortable and the communal deck was pleasant in the evening.

We arrived a little early, and the young lady at the front desk told us our room wasn’t ready yet and asked us to come back around 3 or 3:30 PM. Since we had just had lunch, we parked the car in the lot and hung out. I think she noticed us there. Around 2 PM, she came out and told us our rooms were ready. That was really kind of her to notice us and offer an earlier check-in. We were just passing through and wanted to relax a bit in the pool and hot tub, but that area really needs a major upgrade. The cool deck material was coming apart and falling into the pool and hot tub, and the trash cans around the pool area were overflowing. The room was clean, but it also could use some updates. Overall, the place just needs some TLC—cleaning, maintenance, and a refresh would go a long way.
