Perfect place to stay if you are in the area to see Mesa Verde NP, it’s right down the road. My stay was quiet, cozy and clean! Highly recommend!

The retro vibe was pretty cool; took me back to my mid-century modern days. The room contained the basic amenities. The bed was super comfortable and best of all, the room smelled clean without the perfumy smell sometimes used to cover something up. The breakfast selection was as good as the majors...much appreciated. Shopping and restaurants were most easily reached by car but still relatively close by. In general this was a most enjoyable experience, and we would consider it again if ever in the area.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here for the last night of a long road trip. We got in late and wanted to hit Mesa Verde in the morning so we were planning a quick in and out night. Front the second we started chatting with the concierge we could tell that the people here genuinely took pride in their work and their motel. Atmosphere is fun with lots of little secrets to find. Our room was clean, comfortable, and conveniently right next to our car. The shower was somewhat divisive (I love that a monsoon rained down on you though) Other than that the only piece to mention is that this is certainly an older building. Beds were a king so those were fine but the bathroom was a little tight. I’m 6’3 and (admittedly) clumsy so I knocked into the bathroom quite a bit. Really no big deal but worth considering if anyone in your group is a larger. Breakfast is a classic continental but somehow more memorable than your usual best western. Can’t get a corn dog at a Holliday inn express.

Cute motel with many creative nods to the fifties. Breakfast was good but needed a couple more options. Room was clean but behind the door in the bathroom a little cleaning is needed. The lady at the desk went above and beyond to provide oat milk for granddaughter. Overall a good stay.

Fun theme hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms. Comfy bed. The room number corresponds to the year it will be decorated. We had the Star Wars room with a glow-in-the-dark Star Wars mural. The breakfast is basic continental, but they keep a supply of cold bottled water available all day. Nice/fun game room.

The room was so-so not where we would normally stay! But the outside area and club room were amazing if I was traveling with children it would be perfect! The grounds are beautiful! Breakfast wasn’t very good we actually passed.

Very nice motel — very clean! Since it is “retro”, it was nice to see metal lawn chairs & vintage decor in the office & the patios. I was expecting more retro decorations in the rooms, but our room was not too retro, unless you count a 1950’s dresser & 3 or 4 mall Johnny Cash signs nailed to the wall. Would I stay again — absolutely!

Hidden Retro Jewel!

We were extremely pleasantly surprised at the wonderful accommodations provided by this property. Very clean and spacious property with incredible amenities. This is definitely a hidden jewel in Cortez. Like the hotel name indicates, this experience is a welcomed step back in time. We will be back. HIGHLY recommended!

Skip the chain places and stay at a truly retro motel! If you are older, it is a treat- if you are younger, it is just special. Comfy and clean room, great grounds and amenities. Nice breakfast too. Only one suggestion for the property- clean the outside door mats to avoid dragging stuff into the room.

In need of a bit of updating and TLC

The property is utterly charming, with a lot of thought going into giving it a retro feel, from the tiny travel trailer at the entrance to the "dates" on the doors and the picnic tables under the trees. The room was large, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was a bit more than the usual continental. However, there did not begin to be enough charging stations. There was only one on one side of the king size bed (hint, put one on each nightstand and plug the table lamps into them). Outlets that were accessible were old and wouldn't hold the plug. There was no light over the table area -- we had to turn on the bathroom light to read the microwave panel (the floor lamp on the other side of the dresser could be moved). The toilet needs to be changed out for a low flow, as does that rain shower head. Finally, if guests tell you that someone's dog has left a deposit (as it were), the response is to clean it up, not ignore it.
