The first thing to know/remember is that in most of Alaska, you will not find name brand hotels. You are in the wild. Most places will be mom and pop owned. This hotel was very clean, and the employees were very helpful and kind. The property is dated and not fancy, but you will not find that kind of hotel in this area. Other than the people above us walking on the floor loudly after we had gone to sleep, we had a nice stay.

Sadly, despite high-expectations based on former reviews, the hotel had non-existent WIFI and thin-walls that did little to prevent me from hearing children screaming in the next room half the night. The hotel was very dated with a bathroom that was quite disappointing. The shower didn't drain, the toilet seat was worn and there was a black mold or mildew on the roof of shower. The only saving grace was that the hotel receptionist was friendly and did her best to accommodate us when our room was not ready at check-in.

Booked one room, given another — disappointing I reserved a specific room but was moved to a different one at check-in without prior notice. This created unnecessary inconvenience during my stay and wasn’t what I paid for or planned around. I chose this property based on the room I selected, so being reassigned was frustrating. I’d like to see the hotel honor confirmed bookings, communicate proactively when changes are unavoidable, and offer appropriate compensation when guests don’t receive the room type reserved.
