The condo is a self-catering accommodation for the budget minded family/friends looking for a cozy nest to stay in the heart of Destin. We allow up to 2 dogs at NO CHARGE (NO puppies/cats or >60 lbs) and NO cleaning fee. The condo is a ground floor conveniently located across the street from the beach and next to Big Kahuna’s Waterpark and The Track Park. Our complex offers 3 pools, with one being heated during the winter.

Long weekend getaway

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this property in Destin. The complex was quiet and very dog friendly! It was great to also have a property owner that is dog friendly! Our whole family loved walking to the lake bridge and feeding lettuce to the turtles, at one time we counted around 60 turtles! This property was also close to many activities.

Very nice little Condo.

Overall our time at Mermaid Retreat was wonderful. Jeff and Gladys were wonderful host and they went above and beyond to make the condo homelike. There were way more pros than cons to our visit. I will start with the CONS to get it out of the way. I had some issues with the loudness of the 2nd set of upstairs neighbors we had during out stay. We hardly ever heard the first set, but the second set was ridiculously loud well into the AM hours. I should have reported them to Jeff and Gladys but I didn't. The only other con would be that you couldn't turn the living room lights off without turning the ceiling fan off because it was all one switch. We had to unscrew lightbulbs every night to leave the fan on. I'd recommend wiring a separate switch for the lights. Over all it was a minor inconvenience. Some of the pros They had waters and little snacks laid out, provided beach gear and family games. The towels were thick and fluffy. There was even a blow dryer. Literally the only thing you need is clothes and food. The beds and couch bed were all comfortable. Even though the Ac didn't go below 70 the temperature remained comfortable the entire time and I'm a Texas girl so I keep my AC on 65 at night at home. The blankets and pillows provided were nice. Everything was clean and you could just tell that Jeff and Gladys were doing everything they could to make this home away from home feel like a home. The pricing on the condo was fabulous! Overall I give them 5 stars and I will be looking to stay with them again. We are hoping to turn this trip into an annual affair.
