This was our first time staying in El Portal, we have been going to Yosemite for 45 years. The staff was over the top helpful and the property was conveniently located. This is a nice little town close to the entrance to Yosemite.

We booked this property because of its proximity to Yosemite and because its on the YARTS bus route and we could get to it via Amtrak/YARTS. Its a motel style property and is quite dated - which we expected from the photos. We booked a riverside room but we were intially given a room that has a pool directly at the back of it and bizarrely 2 hot tubs directly in front of it - so it wasn't a river view room it was a hot tub view room and it certainly wasn't private! We went straight back to reception and they "found" us another room with a proper river view which was the best bit about the property.

Very poor experience..

Room service bad, although requested for room clean service - not provided..had to wait for 2 to 3 hours for just to get Bath towell, and at the end i had to go to lobby and pick it up.. Had very big spiders in the room.. Cleanliness - very bad.. matress and linens were very bad quality - not washed.

Pack your food in

The room was amazing. All of the expected amenities were available. The rushing Creek next to the building provides the perfect ambiance for a good night's sleep. The only drawback were the dining options which are very limited, and not very good. Thankfully there are kitchenettes in most rooms. Still a great value for being so close to the park.
