The cabin is cute at the top of the ridge with great long range views. The cabin interior is dated and shows some wear and tear but it was clean and cozy. The sunset from the front and the sunrise from the back is amazing. The views were one of the reasons we selected this one last minute. The location is ideal for heading into West Jefferson or Boone, making popping into town an easy drive. Sadly there were no rockers on the front porch like in the write up but we had our own chairs with us and were able to sit out on the front porch for the sunsets and even the approaching thunderstorm. The kitchen does have most cooking needs however there were no utensils for the grill. The hot tub was not as enjoyable as I was hoping and was the other reason for selecting this one. The stairs down to the hot tub are lit with the upstairs lighting and 1 solar light on the outside of the stairs. When the patio was reached and we went out around 8 the first night, there was 1 solar light on an outside post and the deck was very dark. The light switch did not turn on the light that we saw, maybe the light was burned out, the breaker was fine but the hot tub cover was torn in half so lifting the cover was cumbersome and heavy to move once we unlocked and unstrapped the cover. Due to the cover being in half and very broken, we didn't feel comfortable removing the entire cover so we had access to half of the hot tub. It was also disappointing that several jets did not work either.
