Hot Springs is just right for visiting Mount Rushmore and area. I was on my motorcycle (along with lots others) and found this town with quant charm and easy access to all the parks and rides, without all the congestion. The hotel was prices well with indoor pool. Large store and gas stations within a block. The best restaurant was the Smoke House for authentic smoke meat. The building facilities could do with a little upgrade, parking lot, hallway and plumbing. My toilet ran water continuously and the parking lot was rough and paint fades. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the is the main thing. Breakfast was very basic

I booked through Expedia and when I showed up to check in there were no more rooms except for the executive suite. The genius at the desk told me the couch didn't pull out so I spent 45 minutes calling other hotels in the area for a room. When I couldn't find anything I decided to settle for the suite and have one of my kids sleep on the bed with us and the other on the couch. The guy at the counter spent over 30 minutes trying to figure out how to upcharge me for the suite that I didn't want. It wasn't my fault that they gave away my room and now I was forced to spend extra money. When I got into the suite it took me about 5 seconds to figure out it was a pull out couch and I had wasted 45 minutes calling other hotels based on bad information. The room itself looked very used and abused, was not impressed by the executive suite.

PLEASE CONSIDER AND READ ENTIRELY!!! Everyone beware of this property and always pay through the third party and not the hotel. I say this because the individual in charge is a liar and a scammer. He will try to give you the wrong room type then try to charge you to upgrade. He acts like he is not in charge to not refund you at all costs even if its for a valid issue. He is a complete scammer. I hope others have had the same experience and speak out. I whole heartedly hope no one stays at this property or other properties managed by the individual who calls himself Sam. On my stay alone, I watched him give individuals dirty rooms including myself. He denied multiple individuals refunds claiming he was new and he is not the manager. I verified from a valid source that he is in charge and he does all the time. I hope everyone sees this review and reconsiders staying there. Not the worth the hassle from an unethical individual who doesnt care if you have a good stay and only cares about keeping your money. Worst stay i've ever had. I hope that Baymont and Wyndham read this and do something about this guy because he shouldn't be managing any hotel.

The bed was filthy. The mattress pad was gross! It should have been thrown away. The responsibility of management is to have a clean place to sleep. If this cannot be done by them they should be replaced.

Some items in the room were torn...the lampshade and the bed skirt. The bathtub needed a redo. At breakfast, there was no fruit and no yogurt, two things that I look for.

Okay

Sheets and bathroom was clean but left a lot to be desired elsewhere. Dirty carpets, couches, dining room could all used to be cleaned well. I had 4 tall teens with me and the pool was maybe 4 feet deep. Okay if you need a cheap quick stay. The front desk and breakfast staff were very nice.

Old rundown hotel

Probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The rooms the parking lot the whole place was dirty and they were also rude. We had a late check-in for another one we booked and nobody even came out after we had called in to verify it in the middle of the night then we end up getting kicked out of the motel Because we woke him up from asleep, which we waited an hour in the lobby for him to get up. I’ll never go back to that motel again.
