This is the first unit we stayed in at Kanaloa 5-6 years ago, and it was that experience and the amazing views that made us fall in love with the complex. Since then, we've stayed in other Kanaloa units more the 10 times. When this unit was available for our most recent stay, we were excited to return. Unfortunately, maintenance of the unit has been substandard over the years and we had a very mixed experience this time. The views from the lanai, overlooking He'eia Bay, remain spectacular, but we experienced several disruptive maintenance issues during our visit. The morning after we arrived, we discovered that the shower valve in the guest bathroom was broken and completely nonfunctional. We reported this immediately. This was definitely something that should have been noticed by the cleaning crew prior to our stay. It took 3 days to repair (and water was shut off for 4 hours during the repair), so all of our guests had to share the master shower for more than half of our visit. Additionally, the internet didn't work upon our arrival. We communicated frequently regarding troubleshooting, etc., but it only ended up working less than 1 day of our 6 day stay. The refrigerator had been leaking and was damaged on the exterior, half of the light bulbs in the unit were burned out, several blinds were falling off the windows or broken, and the dishwasher was not properly secured, etc. The property manager did offer a small credit upon checkout.
