The hotel offers a variety of amenities, but the property feels outdated. While the beds were clean and comfortable, the room itself was not well maintained—there was visible hair along the restroom baseboards and stains on the wall near the toilet. The pool area also lacked cleanliness; the floor was sticky, and we noticed roaches on the day beds. The pool water didn’t appear clean either. The next morning, trash, bottles, and cups from the previous night were still scattered around the adult hot tubs. Overall, the hotel needs significant improvement in cleanliness.

We were impressed from the arrival with the Bellman & Valet service. Hotel was beautiful and clean. At registration you could see the lovely pool area .Desk clerk was pleasant and helpful. Room was terrific. Great sitting area with a table to sit and have coffee or a snack or pizza. Bathroom had a large tub Plus a separate shower. Plenty of towels and washcloths. Large double vanity. View was okay , could see the river off to left. Ate at Landry’s and it was excellent. Got a pizza at Claim Jumper and it was just okay.

Worth it for the bath tub!

Definitely spend the money on a better view, we were facing a roof and it was kind of a bummer. The bathrooms are fantastic, I don’t understand why the hotel doesn’t put glasses in the rooms. Only paper coffee cups, lame. The hotel is very pretty. Most of the staff was very nice but definitely not everyone. The hotel pool is very nice. I definitely don’t plan on going on a weekend though because it would definitely be too crowded, we were out there on a Tuesday and it was perfect.

Our recent stay at the Golden Nugget Lake Charles was a major disappointment. The beds and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The pool was overcrowded and poorly maintained—floating debris like hair and fake fingernails made it feel unsanitary and uninviting. Dining was another letdown. The food at Lillie’s lacked authenticity and flavor, and Grotto’s tasted like reheated, day-old frozen meals—a stark contrast to the much better experience we’ve had at their Galveston location. Additionally, while we appreciate the hotel being pet-friendly, it comes with downsides. We encountered dog waste in the hallway directly outside our room that remained uncleaned for over 18 hours. For a resort of this caliber, we expected far better cleanliness and service across the board.

The toilet was broken and I checked in on Friday and checking out on Monday and had to call to request for my room to be cleaned. Also on Say someone came in and took the trash out but didn’t clean the room. When they did clean the room on Sunday after my call to front desk informing me I had to request the room get clean all was done was they made the bed. They left the trash and didn’t vacuum the floors or clean anything else.
