The first nights stay was bad, the people in the room next to me smoked right outside of my ground floor room, the smoke was sucked into my room by the AC unit, and the cigarette smell was unbearable. That morning I went to the front desk to complain and requested a room change. The front desk woman seemed a little upset that I would complain and request a room change. Finally, she put in my request at about 9:00 am., made me check out of my current room before she made the room change and I had to store my luggage at the front desk. I ask how long it would take to get my new room, she said it could take several hours! Finally after waiting 2.5 hours I called Expedia and told them of the problem, they called the hotel and spoke with the front desk, and explained that I've been waiting 2.5 hours sitting in the lobby. Expedia requested they expedite my room change. After another hour the hotel called me to say my room was ready. I feel like I lost the majority of my day sitting and waiting, very sad and disappointing.

Several things stood out to me during my stay. I enjoyed waking up to rooster sounds in the morning, which added to the island experience. The property provided a tranquil environment, and my cottage was conveniently located near the Kamalani Playground and the beachfront access to Lydgate Park. One of the staff members, Adela, was especially kind and pleasant. She consistently offered daily housekeeping services and kept the room spotless. The hotel charged a $25 daily resort fee, which included parking and on-site activities such as hula lessons, hula shows, etc. Unfortunately, I did experience one disappointing incident. I wanted to attend the Hula Lesson scheduled for Wednesdays at 9 AM, as listed in the brochure. The day prior, I confirmed the details with the front desk because guests were instructed to sign up. I was told that no sign-up was necessary and that I could simply show up. I was also informed that if it rained, the lesson normally held on Mamahune's lawn would be moved indoors to the ballroom. Since it was raining, I went to the ballroom and arrived promptly at 9 AM. The instructor informed me that the class had started at 8:30 AM and was already finished. She declined to provide the lesson despite the 9 AM time listed in the brochure. It was extremely disappointing to wake up early expecting a scheduled activity and not be able to participate due to conflicting information. Cina and Jenny resolved the manner, which increased the rating up to 4 stars.

Room was a typical room. We had king with ocean view. Pros: - close to Lydgate Park where there’s facilities and a nice paved walking loop along the coastline, protected swim area for children and adults to swim. - tiki bar vibe is great Cons: - slight scents of sewage that waft through the lobby - beach towels rather worn - resort fees are too high for what you get which is not a whole lot (towel service) - no balcony off rooms

Hotel was not your standard Hilton Garden. More like a resort. A little pricy for the location once amenity fee and parking were added. Hot tub was not working, which was disappointing because it was quite cool when we checked in. There were no other amenities to use since it was rainy and cold that evening, and then we had to check out the next morning. Final price was close to staying at a full-service resort. Room was nice but, no elevator so we had to take our luggage down 2 flights of stairs. Right on Lydgate beach and free coffee in the lobby in the morning was nice.

The staff was responsive. The room was not in the best repair. The nightstand drawer was not usable, the hinges under the sink are all loose and falling off, one washing machine was full of sand, the luau tiki stands have stakes exposed and not covered. We were surprised and disappointed to have an extra parking fee.

The rooms were clean and well kept, and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. The only thing I had a problem with was the $25 daily fee for parking and the $25 fee for daily activities, such as feeding the koi. That increased our cost for the stay by $350. If this was known upfront I may have chosen a different hotel that was $350 higher than the Hilton.

Cottage was not up to par. It should be renovated. The air conditioning could not be set on auto mode; consequently, the noise was on all the time...hard to sleep w/the noise because sofabed was next to it. Did report it but staff could not fix it. Patio light was too dim. On one of our stays, there was a pool of water that smelled like mop water or urine. Don't really know if this was done by housekeeping. Staff cleaned it. For the rates they're charging, hotel could do better. The location is ideal, and staff friendly and accommodating. Don't know if I would stay there again.

Updating . Cottage AC units are very loud . Bed was very creaky and sloped to the middle . Kittens and cat meow all night . Daily resort fee of $25 a day plus $25 a day parking fee . Wasn’t prepared for an extra $400 for the week. Gym , cable system only had a single handle. No ice machines anywhere near the cottages and only one worked which was in the farthest building. We appreciated the many water stations but none near the cottages. Mini kitchen area was nice but no utensils and any kind or paper towels .
