Property was beautiful. Most of the staff were friendly and very helpful. Except for one man at the front desk. Was not friendly at all and he wasn’t even the one helping me. He just stared at me and the other staff I was speaking to. Than I sent my sons to ask for towels and they said a man was very rude to them. Later in the day while in the lobby they pointed him out and it was the same man.

Note: This is a conference center with widely dispersed residential buildings. Pros: Great breakfast (food and staff). 5 min walk to beach from main check in. Cons: Ours was a very old residential building. Breakfast was 7:30-9. They told us water would be shut off 9-11:30 for maintenance. Checkout was noon. They would not allow late check-out, despite the timing of the water shut- down, making it necessary to essentially be ready to checkout at 8 am. This was annoying and difficult as we checked in after 10p the night prior. They assigned our two rooms one ground floor corner, one 2nd floor opposite corner.

Asilomar seems like an attractive conference center, but the rooms are both dated and not particularly well kept. The bath tub had broken tile below the water spout, and the Formica counters were some odd shade of red. And there was a shortage of power receptacles, which was kind of annoying.

Amazing location and grounds. However, pick your room wisely as some rooms have not been updated for over 20 years. The room is extremely basic but very comfortable bed.

The place is cozy, clean, convenient and pretty. However the staff is stubborn and not helpful. I booked 2 rooms for 2 days with me my wife and my in-laws. I requested them to give me a rooms near by so that the elderly don't have to walk a lot between rooms. The front desk person Chris, made some annoying faces when I requested him to give me close by rooms. Also, there are no microwaves on the property to heat your food. They prefer the guests eat food from the dining area which is crazy expensive $46 (or around this price) I am not sure how this strategy is helping them. At least a common area to heat the food will be sufficient. All the comfort coziness, and pretty location feel will be vanished when the staff is rude. I would recommend to find places somewhere else because there are a ton to beautiful places to stay for a day or two.
