Beautiful location for a getaway. Some of the rooms are lovely and have been recently updated- I could see this as I walked by historical buildings that were near mine. However, my room on this visit had tattered curtains, electrical outlets that jiggled when I plugged my phone charger in, and was generally very much in need of updating. Not a good value for the money. Also, know that some rooms have lovely views, and others do not- look out on parking areas, and that requesting a room with a view does not assure you will receive one.

Lovely escape

Asilomar was lovely as it always is. You have to accept that it is an older property so some room furnishings are not shiny or updated. Its charm of historical arquitecture and location win you over despite its shortcomings in modern comfort. It really is an escape from everyday life and the ocean is a short walk away.

Lovely spot close to nature and beach, but still convenient to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was included and was good enough, if slightly “cafeteria-ish”. Would definitely stay again for proximity to beautiful beaches and sand dunes.

They told me the pool was open. They told me the pool was heated. I wouldn't have rented if they had told me the truth: the pool is freezing, filled with broken branches and leaves, nobody has been swimming there for a long, long time. When I mentioned this at the front desk, they said "Who gave you that information?" as if they were ready to fire that person. "We're sorry", they said, but they weren't sorry enough to let me check out at 1:30 instead of 11.

Ants in room. No phone in room to call someone. Could not get ice delivered because they don’t have a Bellman. Having worked in hospitality for 10 years. When a customer asked for us to be delivered, you delivered it. There were three people when I checked in at the front desk. One of those persons could’ve delivered ice to me because I had a bad knee. Also, I wanted to pay with cash and I was told they don’t accept cash. I would never recommend this place. My room was outdated. The shower needs to be redone. The blinds need to be redone. No shower mat in the shower. I had to use a hand towel so that my feet would not touch the floor. They need a lot of work as far as customer service goes. A professional should assist with having the front desk, clerks, not shout out your room number. That’s a blatant security risk to the people checking in to the Conference Center.

Asilomar is in a wonderful location and charges a very reasonable amount to stay there. The staff seems friendly and very efficient. The bed and lighting and carpet were all terrific. But the sinks in our bathroom did not operate properly at all and are in desperate need of replacement — pretty surprising really, The slower operated ok but the tub itself is really old with stains and needs to be replaced. I know it’s all about the money but they desperately need to upgrade their facility maintenance.

This rooms are dated but clean and the overall property has a rustic feel. It’s located next to the beach and the common area is large and cozy. They have the fire pits going every night and sell smore kits incase you didn’t bring your own. We love this place and we will definitely return.
