At first glance the room looked amazing but it didn't take long before things started to go south. First problem our TV didn't work. We called down to the front desk. They told us they'd look into it and give us a call back. Now while we were waiting we decided to try the soak tub that was in the room only to find out it didn't hold water. Now when we got there it was 10:00 p.m. so after a failed bath we climbed into bed and fell asleep to a video on our phone. The next morning we woke up and went off to our whale watching trip. Upon our return I stopped in at the front office to check on the outcome of the TV and inform them of the bathtub only to be informed that the do not disturb sign on my door was violated and somebody was in my room. I was never asked if it was okay and I'm not even sure they would have told me had I not gone into the office to inquire about it. When I asked them how they were going to rectify the situation they told me that they were going to refund me for half my trip only to find out that they were going to refund me for the second day but weren't going to let me stay. So I paid full price for a non-working room and got kicked out the second night. And the ladies up front were so rude. When I told him about the bathtub they actually had the audacity to ask me if I used the plug even after I told them that I pushed it down, filled the tub up and the water cyclone started.

Vintage on the outside, Modern on the Inside

This is a adorable little motel that has obviously been upgraded and remodeled recently. The rooms were clean comfortable and as quiet as you can get at a motel. It was close to everything we wanted to do in Monterey, it is just awesome place to stay.

Our stay at Monterey Bay Lodge was a letdown from the start. The receptionist, as the first point of contact, set the tone—and unfortunately, it wasn’t a good one. She looked miserable, as if she didn’t want to be there, and made no effort to be welcoming. No “please” or “thank you,” just a cold, disinterested attitude that carried over when we later called reception. Our room was on the ground level, and the guests above arrived around midnight, making noise until 2 AM—so much for a restful stay. While the room itself was clean, it was seriously dated. The bathroom was freezing, with no heating, and the only heater in the room barely made a difference. Overall, this place was disappointing—noisy, outdated, and lacking in hospitality. A warm welcome and some basic courtesy would have gone a long way, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t there.

The room was clean and cute. They had a lil garden area outside with a fireplace. Pool was heated but jacuzzi not available after sunset. Was a close walk to beach and wharf . Not a far drive from tide pools which were amazing . standard room had a cute patio area right by pool . I booked room on expedia and in description said the basic room had a fireplace , but upon check in was told my room didn’t have one . One of the reasons I booked this lodge was for fireplace in room and lodge was unable to accommodate to changing to room with a fireplace.

The property was clean and quiet. If you are a light sleeper request an upstairs room. We stayed downstairs and we could hear the movement and footsteps of the people upstairs. The room was clean, bed was comfortable enough. The pillows were a bit flat, but for the low pricing you get what you pay for. Overall I would stay here again if I was looking to save. The location is pretty nice as there is a bit park with a pond right across the street.
