The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza
"This hotel surprises me every time. I've stayed here before, but it had been several years. Reading some of the reviews, honestly I was a little nervous that something had changed. However, when I checked in, it was exactly as I remembered it. The staff is super helpful. Checking in, the person was very kind and professional, check in was quick and easy. After the first night, we did ask for 2 extra pillows and they were given with no question. The rooms are clean, very large, very comfortable. We didn't really use the kitchen as we only stayed a couple of days, but I love the thought that it's there if we want it. There is an actual table, and a couch to relax on. The breakfast is very good. I did miss a make your own waffle station, but there was PLENTY to choose from. It was all clean, fresh, and hot. The first morning we went down close to end time, say 915. Everything was still full and fresh. They do have a nice pool area, although I didn't use it. I heard one of the guests that was in there say that the pool was pretty cold, but I can't speak to that myself. My only critique is that the gym area felt a little bit dirty....needed some basic vacuuming and wiping. But there was adequate equipment. A couple of treadmills, couple of ellipticals, and some free weights. Fancy? No. Adequate? Sure. For the price and location, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Right in easy walking distance to literally everything in Canal Park, and we even easily walked downtown. Fantastic!"
