We got one of the recently-remodeled rooms, and it was very nice and cozy. The beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean. The gentleman that checked us in was extremely nice and even offered to help with luggage. If we come back to the area we would absolutely stay here again. For those showing up to the area after 5-6pm, please be aware that basically everything here and in Bodega Bay shuts down super early so plan your dinner accordingly.

Great Getaway 👍

This Lodge surprised me. All the rooms are slightly different looking and we were given the option to pick our own room since they were not super busy. The gentleman at the counter, Ryder, was absolutely professional and welcoming, very kind and helped us find the best room for our needs. All the rooms are very clean well put together and comfortable. We picked one with a king size bed on the second floor. They have a sweet with two queen size beds in separate rooms on the ground floor that looks absolutely amazing and we will pick next time. The property is quiet and well placed in the small town of occidental. Right across the street is a great place for breakfast and a wonderful oat milk latte. The food options are plentiful, serving some big and the prices absolutely reasonable. For dinner there are couple of choices but I must warn you only open on the weekends. We went into Santa Rosa to do some food as well which was only 25 to 30 minute drive. Occidental sits in a beautiful area of Redwood forests, and if you're looking to go ziplining there is canopy Adventures only 5 minutes from the lodge. We had a great time and will absolutely return! We highly recommend above any hotel. They have some rooms that are dog friendly and some rooms that they intentionally don't allow any pets for people who may have allergies or preferences. There were no signs or smells of any other pets ever having been in the room we stayed in with our little fur friend.

*read entire review for accuracy It’s O.K. Worn and dated, but functional. Most everything in the room was out of date, but clean on the surface * No phone/phone cable plugins No outlets center nightstand TV was OLD, not hdtv, limited channels Room definitely showed age: Stain on ceiling Large dirt/stain spots on carpet Surface clean, but otherwise …. hmm *I WOULD consider staying here again. Great location for exploring the nearby coast! We never spend anytime in the room. Good room rate, all things considered. Accommodations in the area are super expensive (because of the great location). We searched online and found a room here (2 queen beds), 2 nights $250 all in. Not a destination resort, but definitely budget friendly for travelers, trekkers, dreamers, etc. ** Travel tip: If you’re going to a beach, hiking trail, destination park GO EARLY! The park, parking lot and trails fill up mid-morning. Expect bus loads of kids mid morning, which may affect your serenity ….

I really enjoy staying here when I come to the area for school. The staff is friendly and personable, unlike a lot of places. And it has nice touches- like real glasses for drinking instead of cheap plastic ones. The town of Occidental is tranquilly situated among redwoods.

The carpet did look like it was a pet friendly room as there were possible prior stains on the carpet. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Enjoyed the fridge. Overall very nice aesthetic and good pricing.

Lovely place to stay

Great place to stay. Clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. Staff at reception were very helpful and informative. Howard Station is directly across the road and do a fantastic breakfast. Overall, Occidental is a lovely little village, off the beaten track.
