Very disappointing.

Both myself and my client experienced bizarre credit card charges far exceeding what we paid through Hotels.com. Weeks later it still is not resolved which leads me to believe it's part of their business practice to overcharge corporate or business clients in the hopes they will not review their costs. The staff that works the front desk was sometimes great and helpful. This was not consistent, as other staff was seemingly very inexperienced and emotionally volatile. From arguing with and shouting at my client to our team waiting for service while overhearing a young woman complaining loudly about her boyfriend and relationship on a personal call in the lobby.

Disappointing

Very disappointed in this hotel. Checking in was fine and the service was nice. The hallways and room smelled musty but it's an old hotel so I thought OK. However, we found dark stains on the bedsheets in the room when we arrived. The sheets smelled clean but there's no excuse for putting obviously stained sheets on the bed. How was that missed? I told service and they offered to upgrade our room but I thought changing sheets was sufficient. Sleeping was fine, it was nice and quiet. However, we woke up with scratchy throats and headaches. My partner has mold and chemical allergies and so we checked the AC unit in the room and found that neither the particle filter or the inside of the unit had been cleaned. We found a black crust on the grille inside the AC. We told the service desk and they sent someone to clean the unit but it did not help, and the unit started blowing black debris into the room and on the bed. The janitor service was out so we were told the unit could not be deep-cleaned. We should have left but didn't have another option for hotels that night. We felt worse the next day and checked out a day early to go to a different hotel. So, overall, the service was decent but the cleanliness and upkeep of the room was poor. It looked like their AC units hadn't been cleaned in a long time- they need to be deep cleaned or replaced. If you have allergies BEWARE of this hotel. Overall, I think this hotel is overpriced for what you get and can't recommend.

Good property, but the AC in the gym area did not work, so it made working out very hot. I also got notification via text that check out time was noon, but then was rushed out of my room, kind of rudely, by housekeeping, at 11am.

Pella, Iowa, is a gem! We were there for a wedding. The property is old, but they have done a nice job updating it. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and it was very quiet. Unfortunately, the elevator had been out of order for almost a week, so we all had to walk up three flights of stairs in an unconditioned stairwell. This included older people, those with canes, and those with disabilities. Fortunately, we are very active and consider ourselves in good health, and it was still taxing for us. When we asked for a discount on our room, and yes, we had to ask, we were given a $10 discount for each night (we stayed two nights). The included breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy, yogurt, Cheerios, Danish, bagels, and hard-boiled eggs. There weren't any scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. The room rate was $219, which, in my opinion, is too much even if the elevator is working.

I didn’t like how I could hear every step the person above us was taking. I could hear them taking a shower, as well as when the gentlemen took a high pressure pee at 5:00am. Not a good place to get any sleep.

Not worth its rating.

The bed was hard, there was no top sheet on it, there was no soap in the bathroom (just a makeup wipe), and no one was working the receptionist desk and no bell to ring when I went to check out. I waited 10 minutes, yelled a “Hello” and no one came. I wrote a note on my key requesting an emailed receipt with my email address and never received one.
