The five-star rating is misleading. I don’t know how this hotel earned it. No one offered to help with our luggage and we were told in broken English to go find the building 12 without anyone showing us the way. The elevator only worked about one out of four times. One of the stair tiles fell down under my husband’s foot and was never fixed or even removed during our entire stay.
The beach was covered in seaweed, the pool was dirty and it closed at 6pm. The food was awful at every restaurant! we tried all of them and none were worth returning to. The staff were rude and seemed annoyed by guests, as if our presence was a disturbance.
On top of that staff constantly tried to sell memberships, future hotel projects, and tours. Marketing people were everywhere around the pool and beach, which ruined any chance of relaxing.
Our butler only booked restaurants and pushed us aggressively to attend a “special breakfast” on our first morning, which turned out to be a members-only sales pitch. He called repeatedly early in the morning, admitted he’d earn a commission, and said we had to sit through a 1.5-hour marketing presentation to get breakfast. When we declined, he became angry, never checked on us again.
The lobby lights were off during the day, making it dark and lifeless.The worst issue was that we had no warm water for the last three days and had to shower with cold water. The AC made constant noise and despite reporting it to both the butler and front nothing was fixed.
