We stayed in a Home2 in Owatonna on our way to Canada and it was perfect. So we thought we’d be safe booking this one on our way back. We were very disappointed. We arrived late after a long drive. The lobby was nice and seemed clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, and Check in was quick. Our room was gross. When we first walked in we were all shocked by the overwhelming smell of air freshener or cleaning product. The floors were sticky in both the entryway and the bathroom. We always check the beds for bugs and though we didn’t find any signs of bugs, the mattresses were stained all over and there were crumbs and dirt on top of the bed skirts. The cushions on the pull out couch were stained and disgusting. There was something sticky splattered all over the AC unit. The shower had cracked caulking, pink mildew, and rust all along the bottom of the door and in the corners. The glass of the shower looked like it hadn’t ever been cleaned. We all had trouble sleeping because of the strobe light (the smoke detector) that, as other reviews have mentioned, flashes every ten seconds all night and is positioned right over the beds. To top it off, breakfast the next morning was inedible.
No, I did not complain or mention any of these issues to the staff. We (myself, husband, four kids and our dog) arrived late after being in the car for 11 hours, and were told upon check in that the hotel was sold out. So we chose to deal with it instead of trying to move rooms or possibly hotel
