We love this hotel. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast was beyond expectations. The omelettes were the cherry on top. The pool was small, but we enjoyed it. We will definitely comeback whenever we are in the area.

I wrote a formal complaint email to the Hotel Manager and I still haven’t heard back from him. Regarding a very alarming incident that occurred during my stay at the hotel on January 30, while I was occupying room 205. While I was inside the room, a person knocked on my door despite a clearly visible “Do Not Disturb” sign being displayed. They attempted to enter my room while I clearly made it known vocally I was inside the room. It was an invasion of privacy and security. The front desk told me it was one of their staff engineers. I was never made aware when I checked-in that my room needed servicing for a leaking shower or bathtub. He attempted to push the door open, I had to immediately engage the deadbolt to prevent him coming. I couldn’t sleep well after felt unsafe. The assistant manager offered in inadequate apology and called it a simple misunderstanding. I was appalled and extremely disappointed with their lack of response and communication. There was no follow up made to check on my status or accommodation.

It was our second visit to the hotel, and, it was just as memorable. The friendliness of the staff at the front desk was really nice to see. The room was nice and clean and a great view of the hills beyond. Good morning breakfast was good but I was looking for decaffeinated tea and couldn't find any. Really enjoyed the fact that the omelets were cooked to order. The waffle machine made me want to get one of my own. I thought the water pressure in our room was a little too strong. The rooms at night can be pitch black, they could use a night light or two. I would recommend anyone coming to Carlsbad to stay at the Ayers Hotel.
